I'm trying to create an effect where a character appears in front of some text. I searched online, and most guides say to use the Cutout feature, but I can't seem to find it.
Am I missing something, or is there another way to achieve this effect? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi,
CapCut has recently changed the interface over time. In many newer versions, the old Cutout button has been renamed or replaced with Remove Background, Remove BG, or Auto Removal, depending on whether you're using mobile, desktop, or the web editor.
To create the effect where a character appears in front of the text, the basic workflow is:
- Add your video or image to the timeline.
- Duplicate the clip.
- On the top copy, use Remove Background (or Auto Removal) so only the character remains.
- Add your text.
- Arrange the layers so they are:
- Top: Character (background removed)
- Middle: Text
- Bottom: Original video/image
This "sandwich" of video → text → cut-out subject creates the illusion that the character is standing in front of the text.
If you can't find any background removal option, it may be because:
- You're using an older version of CapCut.
- You're on a platform where that feature has a different name.
- Some features are only available in certain versions or require signing in.
Can you reply to this thread with the following information:
- Are you on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, or the web version?
- What version of CapCut are you using?
I can give you the exact menu path for your version.
