Hello ,
I have been using CapCut’s AI video creation features for the past 3–4 months while connecting through a Singapore VPN. The features were working normally during this time, and I have been relying on them for a major project.
However, for the past 15 days, I have been receiving the following message whenever I try to use the AI video creation feature:
“This feature is currently unavailable in your country or region.”
I have already tried changing my VPN and connecting through different regions, but the same error continues to appear. I have also contacted CapCut Support multiple times over the past few weeks, but unfortunately, I have not received any response.
This is becoming a serious issue because I have a very large project that depends on these AI video creation features.
Hi,
It looks like region/eligibility change rather than a normal VPN problem. I was reading the CapCut’s current help documentation, and there are a few important points to notice from here.
In this document, CapCut explicitly says its AI features can be unavailable because the country/region is unsupported, and that region detection can use your IP location. It also says availability can depend on the account, platform, app version, and rollout status.
What I think is happening
Because:
-
it worked for 3–4 months,
-
you were consistently using a Singapore VPN,
-
it suddenly stopped around 15 days ago,
-
changing VPN servers/regions hasn't fixed it, and
-
CapCut is specifically returning “This feature is currently unavailable in your country or region”,
I would not keep spending time cycling through VPN countries. That message strongly suggests CapCut's backend is making an eligibility/region decision that isn't based solely on the VPN IP.
The documentation shared above indicates that AI availability can involve regional restrictions and account-level eligibility.
Do these tests before changing anything else
1. Test CapCut Web
Sign into the same account at CapCut Web and try Create with AI → AI Video Maker. The web version can be used as an alternative when the desktop AI Video Maker isn't available.
This test is important because it tells us whether the problem is:
-
account/region-wide, or
-
limited to your desktop/mobile installation.
2. Test the same account on another device
Don't create a new account yet. Log into your existing CapCut account on another device and test the same AI feature.
If the error follows the account, that's strong evidence that this is account/region eligibility, rather than your computer or VPN.
3. Check whether other AI functions work
Try several AI functions rather than only the particular video generator you're using.
For example:
-
AI Script-to-Video
-
AI Video Maker
-
other generative AI tools
If all generative AI features produce the region error, the diagnosis becomes much clearer.
4. Update CapCut and sign out/in
Ensure the application is current and re-authenticate the account when AI features aren't available.
I would also test the web version in an incognito/private browser window.
One thing I would not do yet
Don't uninstall CapCut or clear/delete your local project data without first making a backup.
Since you said this is a very large project, protecting the project files should come before troubleshooting. If your project is synced to CapCut Cloud, verify that the important projects are actually synchronized before doing anything destructive.
Given that your feature worked for months and then stopped abruptly, the aforementioned investigation is probably more useful than trying another VPN.
