"Maximum attempts reached" login error

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here has experienced this issue and found a solution.

I've been a CapCut Pro user for several years. Last week, I needed to edit a project for a client while I was away from my own laptop. Although I had access to my account on my phone, I prefer editing on desktop, so I tried logging in on my sister's laptop.

The QR code login didn't work, so I attempted to sign in with Gmail, which is how I normally access my account. Instead, I received a "Maximum attempts reached" error, followed by an email stating that my account had been limited.

I waited 24 hours before trying again, but I'm still getting the same error. I've already contacted customer support, and they advised me to wait 1–5 days, which is frustrating—especially since I've seen comments from other users saying they never regained access.

Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, were you able to resolve it, and what steps did you take?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I can understand your stressful situation considering especially with a client deadline looming.

The good news is that your account is not deleted.

Because you can still access your account on your phone, your CapCut account and any associated Pro subscription are most likely still active. The issue is related to the sign-in process on your desktop.

The "Maximum attempts reached" message can occur after multiple unsuccessful login attempts.

Depending on the circumstances, the restriction is temporary and can sometimes persist even after waiting for a while.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Part 1: Troubleshoot the Desktop Login

Login issues can sometimes be caused by cached browser data, the desktop app cache, or the current network.

  1. Close CapCut completely.

Exit the desktop application (or close your browser if you're using the web version). On Windows, you can verify that no CapCut processes remain open in Task Manager. On macOS, check Activity Monitor.

  2. Try a different network.

If possible, connect your computer to a different internet connection, such as your phone's mobile hotspot, and then try signing in again.

  3. Clear the local cache.

If you're using the desktop application:

    • Windows: Press Win + R, enter %localappdata%, open the CapCut folder, then clear the contents of the Cache folder if present.
    • macOS: Open Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, go to ~/Library/Caches/, and remove any CapCut-related cache folders.

If you're using the web version, clear your browser cookies and cache or try an Incognito/Private window.

  4. Sign in again.

If available, use your preferred sign-in method from the login screen and complete the authentication process.

Part 2: Continue working from your phone

Since your phone still has access to your account, you may be able to continue working while you troubleshoot the desktop login.

If your project supports cloud synchronization or CapCut Space, you can back it up from your phone:

  1. Open your project list.
  2. Select the project's menu and choose Back up or Upload to Space (if available).
  3. Wait for the upload to complete.

Once the project is stored in the cloud, try accessing it from the CapCut Web Editor using a different browser or computer after signing in successfully.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you'll likely need to wait for the temporary login restriction to expire or contact CapCut Support for assistance.
