Hi,

If you are facing image and video quality issues in CapCut, it’s likely due to import compression, incorrect export settings, or codec incompatibility. Please follow the below recommendations:

Why quality loss happens:

  • Import compression: CapCut sometimes can compress your incoming files upon import to save space, reducing quality from the beginning.
  • Export settings: Incorrect resolution, bitrate, or codec choices can degrade the final video
  • Codec issues: In case CapCut doesn’t fully support your file’s codec, it may convert it, causing quality loss.
  • Preview vs. final quality: The in-app preview might appear lower quality for smoother playback but won’t reflect the final export.
  • Color issues such as Strange Light: Color space conversion or incorrect brightness/contrast settings can modify the images.

How to fix it:

Check for import settings: Enable high-quality imports in CapCut’s settings.
Optimize export settings:

  • Resolution: Match the source resolution; avoid unnecessary upscaling.
  • Bitrate: For 1080p, use 8-12 Mbps for a balance of quality and file size.
  • Codec: H.264 is standard, while H.265 (HEVC) offers better compression.
  • Frame Rate: Match the original video’s frame rate.
  • Color Space: Use Rec.709 for SDR content; ensure correct HDR settings if applicable. For this, click on an empty area in your timeline (not on any video clips) and on the right side, select the "Modify" option. Set the color space to SDR - Rec.709.
  • Image Format: Use PNG for lossless quality or high-quality JPEG for final delivery.
  • Disable Automatic Filters or Effects: Check the "Filters" and "Effects" tabs to confirm no unwanted filters or effects are active.

Ensure source files are high quality: If the original files are low-resolution or compressed, CapCut won’t improve them.
Fix color & brightness issues: Use CapCut’s color correction tools and adjust white balance if colors appear off.
Ignore preview quality: Always check the exported video instead of relying on the in-app preview.
Test other editing apps: If CapCut continues to degrade quality, try exporting from another video editor to compare.

Things to consider:

  • Run test exports: Export a short clip first to check quality.
  • Experiment with settings: Find the ideal balance between quality and file size.

By tweaking these settings and ensuring high-quality source files, you can significantly improve your CapCut exports. If issues persist, testing a different editor can help determine if CapCut is the root cause.
