Hi, I had about half a dozen videos I was in the process of making that I had spent over a year working hard on, and I opened capcut one day and they had all disappeared from my account. Please can you restore them so I can finish working on them? I know a lot of people lost their videos when tiktok was briefly shut down for americans, but I am not in America - I'm in the UK.
Please get back to me as soon as possible, as I'm really worried.
We are really sorry to hear that your projects have disappeared all of a sudden, especially after investing so much time and effort.
Unfortunately, there is no direct way to restore projects if it were accidentally deleted. You can first try out the methods enlisted in this post.
Further, here are a few steps you might try:
-
Double‑check your account and folders:
• Make sure you're logged into the correct account. You might have accidentally created a separate account which happens if you use different login methods which are not synced. Sometimes projects might appear under a different section such as “Recent Projects” or they might be in the “Trash” folder.
• If CapCut has auto‑saved your projects locally or in the cloud, see if there’s an option in the app’s settings or file manager to view archived or unsaved projects. -
Look for local backups:
• Some versions of CapCut store a temporary backup or autosave file on your device. Check your device’s documents or the app’s installation folder (often in a hidden "AppData" directory on Windows) to see if any project files are present. -
Restart the app and device:
• Sometimes a simple app restart or even a reboot of your computer can resolve display glitches that make projects seem to vanish. -
Check for latest developments:
• There have been reports (mainly from US users during TikTok-related outages) of projects disappearing, though you mentioned you're in the UK. Still, it might be a global bug. Look on CapCut’s social media pages to see if there’s an update on this matter. -
Contact CapCut support:
• Since your projects are crucial and you’ve been a Premium user, we recommend reaching out directly to CapCut support at capcut.support@bytedance.com. Provide details like your account information, approximate project names, when you last saw them, and any error messages or unusual behavior you noticed. The developer team might be able to restore or recover your projects if it’s a known bug or sync issue.

We hope one of these steps helps you recover your lost projects. Please let us know if you need any further guidance or have additional questions.
