Hi,

CapCut freezing on upload is a very common issue, and it is usually caused by memory, storage, or file-related problems. Below we will show you a step-by-step checklist, starting with the fastest fixes.

Quick fixes (try these first)

1. Fully restart CapCut and your device

  • Close CapCut completely (not just minimize it)

  • Restart your phone or computer

  • Reopen CapCut and try uploading again

This clears temporary memory bugs.

2. Check available storage

CapCut will freeze if your device is low on space.

  • Make sure you have at least 5–10 GB free

  • Delete:

    • Old videos

    • Screen recordings

    • Unused apps

    • Downloads folder junk

Even if CapCut is installed, video importing needs extra free space.

If you are on mobile (Android / iPhone)

3. Clear CapCut cache (Android)

  • Settings → Apps → CapCut → Storage → Clear Cache

  • Do NOT clear data (that deletes projects)

iPhone:

  • You will need to delete & reinstall CapCut (projects may be lost if not backed up)

4. Check video format & resolution

CapCut may freeze when importing:

  • 4K / 60fps+ videos

  • Very long clips

  • Screen recordings with odd codecs

Try this test:

  • Upload a short 5–10 sec video

  • If that works → the original file is the problem

Fix:
Convert the video to:

  • MP4

  • 1080p

  • H.264 codec (if possible)

If you are on PC / Laptop

5. Move the file to a local folder

CapCut freezes if the file is:

  • On an external drive

  • In cloud folders (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud)

Move the video to:

Documents > CapCut > Media

Then import again.

6. Check your RAM & background apps

CapCut is heavy.

  • Close:

    • Chrome tabs

    • Discord

    • OBS

    • Games

  • Open Task Manager → make sure RAM isn’t maxed out

If you have 8GB RAM or less, CapCut may struggle with large videos.

Still freezing? Try this

7. Update or roll back CapCut

  • Update to the latest version

  • If it started after an update, uninstall and install the previous stable version

8. GPU issue (PC only)

CapCut sometimes freezes due to GPU acceleration.

  • Settings → Performance

  • Turn Hardware Acceleration OFF

  • Restart CapCut

Can you post below information as a reply to this thread so that we can help you further:

  1. Are you using Phone or PC/Mac?

  2. Video length + resolution (e.g. 4K, screen recording, iPhone video)

  3. Does CapCut freeze immediately or after loading bar starts?

We will give you a targeted fix instead of generic steps.
