Pro Member Unable to Access Pro Features

I'm currently a CapCut Pro subscriber, but I'm unable to use Pro features such as Auto Captions.

Whenever I try to use the feature, I get an error saying that I need to sign up for a Pro membership—even though I already have one.

I also tried restoring or reactivating my Pro status, but instead I received an error saying my payment method is invalid and that I should contact customer support. The confusing part is that my card is still being charged, and it appears I've even been charged again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, were you able to fix it? Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

That exact combination getting billed, having Pro features like Auto Captions blocked, and seeing an "invalid payment method" error when trying to restore purchase is a known glitch on CapCut.

It happens most of the time due to a sync desynchronization between your app store (Apple/Google) and CapCut's backend servers.

When your app store processes the payment, it charges your card, but if the handoff token to CapCut fails or hits a payment update prompt, CapCut flags your status as unpaid while Apple/Google keeps your subscription active.

Here is a step-by-step troubleshooting checklist that has resolved this issue for other users:

1. Verify the Account Sign-In Method

CapCut allows logging in via TikTok, Google, Apple ID, Email, or Facebook.

  • If you subscribed using "Sign in with Apple" or Google, but logged into the CapCut app using a direct Email address (or vice-versa), CapCut treats them as two completely separate accounts.

  • Fix: Go to Profile / Me, log out, and log back in using the exact method tied to the billing account.

2. Check and Fix the Subscription at the App Store Level

Because CapCut gave an "invalid payment" error when restoring, your app store account (where the recurring charge originates) likely has a payment authorization warning or a pending hold.

On iPhone / iPad (iOS):

  1. Open Settings on your phone → tap your Apple ID at the topSubscriptions.

  2. Confirm CapCut shows as Active.

  3. Go back to SettingsPayment & Shipping.

  4. If your card shows a red exclamation mark or prompts for re-verification (e.g., CVV input), update it—even if the charge went through.

  5. Reopen CapCut, go to the Pro section, and tap Restore Purchase.

On Android (Google Play):

  1. Open Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptionsSubscriptions.

  2. Check if CapCut shows any status like "Payment on hold" or "Fix payment issue."

  3. Update or re-add your credit card details under Payment methods.

3. Clear App Cache & Disable VPNs

  • VPN/Proxy Conflict: If you are using a VPN or local DNS filter, CapCut’s payment validation servers often fail regional checks and flag your account as unpaid. Turn off any VPN before trying to sync.

  • Cache Issue: Go to CapCut Settings (gear icon) inside the app → tap Clear Cache → force-close and restart the app.

4. Workaround: Restore via CapCut Web / QR Code

If you edit on a PC or Mac and the desktop app is stuck in this loop:

  1. Log in to CapCut Web via your browser.

  2. Check your Account / Membership page to see if Pro reflects there.

  3. If it displays Pro on the web/mobile app, use the QR Code login option on your desktop version to force the desktop app to sync credentials from your mobile app.

What to Do If You're Stuck (Getting a Refund)

If none of these resolve the lock, do not pay again inside CapCut. CapCut's automated support can be slow, but you can resolve the billing directly through the platform provider:

  • Apple Billing: Request a refund via reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple will issue a refund for the broken period and reset the subscription state.

  • Google Play Billing: Request a refund directly through the Google Play Purchase History page.

  • CapCut In-App Support: Go to ProfileFeedback / Help → Submit a ticket attaching your App Store/Google Play bank invoice receipt alongside your CapCut UID (found at the bottom of the Account settings page).
