Is it still possible to export videos without paying for a subscription?

I ran into this issue once before and was able to use the free trial to export my project, but I can't use the trial again. Unfortunately, the subscription is too expensive for me.

I'm confused because CapCut is advertised as a free video editor. Is there still a way to export videos for free, or is a subscription now required?

Hi,

Yes, you can absolutely still export videos for free on CapCut without a subscription.

The confusion comes from CapCut's marketing vs. how they've built the app.

While the core software is completely free, they sprinkle premium "Pro" features inside the free version. If you accidentally click even one Pro asset during editing, CapCut will hold your export hostage behind a paywall window.

The application scans your timeline when you hit export. If it sees a Pro sticker, font, transition, effect, or AI tool, it blocks the free export.

How to fix it and export for free right now:

To get your video out without paying a dime, you just need to purge the Pro elements from your current project:

  • Scrub Your Timeline: Look carefully at your video, audio, and text tracks. CapCut explicitly labels its paid features with a little "Pro" tag in the asset menus. If you used a Pro transition, effect, or text template, delete it and swap it out for a free alternative.

  • Check Your Audio & Fonts: Sometimes it's a piece of background music or a specific text font causing the block. Make sure your text styling uses standard, free fonts.

  • Downgrade Export Quality Settings: CapCut blocks certain ultra-high settings for free users. In the export window, make sure you aren't trying to export in 4K resolution or 60fps (frames per second). Drop the settings down to 1080p and 30fps—these are completely free and standard for social media.

  • Watch Out for Free Account Export Limits: CapCut has rolled out limitations regarding how many videos free accounts can export in a single month. If you've hit your max, you can usually bypass this easily by creating a new, separate free account or exporting via the CapCut Web Browser version.

Once you clear those Pro tags off your timeline and keep your settings at 1080p, that annoying subscription pop-up will vanish, and you'll be able to hit export freely.
