I wanted to try out UHD Export but it applied Super Resolution to the entire project. Now, there are lots of freeze frames and I can't export the project anymore because it keeps saying that I'm using the pro feature Super Resolution. However, I don't understand how and where to disable it.
Hi,
When you toggled that UHD export setting, CapCut applied an AI-based upscaling layer over your footage. Because your computer or phone is trying to render that heavy AI effect in real-time, it’s choking which is causing those freeze frames and now the CapCut Pro paywall is blocking your export.
Because CapCut applied it to the entire project, selecting individual clips on your timeline usually won't show the toggle to turn it off.
Here is exactly how to strip that Pro Super Resolution effect out so you can get your project back and export it for free.
How to turn off Super Resolution
Depending on whether you are editing on a computer or your phone, follow these steps:
On CapCut Desktop (Mac / Windows)
If you applied it globally, it usually attaches itself as an overall "Video Quality" enhancement.
-
Click on an empty space anywhere in your timeline. (This ensures you don’t have an individual clip, text layer, or audio track selected).
-
Look at the Details / Modify panel in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
-
Look for a setting labeled Enhance Quality, Video Quality, or Super Resolution.
-
Uncheck or toggle that switch to Off.
-
Alternative Check: If it's not there, select your master video track, go to the Video tab on the right panel, look under Basic, and scroll down to see if Enhance Quality (HD/UHD) is turned on there. Toggle it off.
On CapCut Mobile (iPhone / Android)
On mobile, it attaches itself during the export screen setup or as a global video effect.
-
Go to your timeline and check if there is a global Effects track running along the bottom of your timeline.
-
If you see a purple or blue effect bar labeled "Super Resolution" or "Image Enhancement," tap it and hit Delete.
-
If it's not on the timeline, tap the Export button (the arrow pointing up) in the top right.
-
Right before hitting the final export button, look closely at the resolution settings slider.
-
Look for a toggle that says Smart HDR or UHD/AI Upscaling and turn it Off.
Still seeing the "Pro" error message?
If CapCut is still nagging you about a Pro feature after doing the steps above, it means a piece of it is still lingering. Try this trick to find exactly where it is hiding:
The "Pro Tracking" Trick:
Click the Export button anyway. When the pop-up appears saying "You are using a Pro feature," CapCut will usually show a small text list right inside that pop-up window detailing exactly which clips or effects are triggering the fee.
It might say something like Clip 3: Super Resolution or Transition: Pro.
Click on that item in the list, and CapCut will automatically jump your playhead straight to the problem clip so you can turn it off.
Once that's cleared up, your timeline should stop lagging, the freeze frames will disappear, and you'll be able to export your project completely free.
