Hi,

After updating CapCut to version 5.2.0, I’ve encountered a serious issue – I can’t edit shorts anymore. 😡 Every time I try to work on them, the program just shuts down!

This is a huge problem for me because I create content professionally and I’m losing money because of this. 🫤 Shorts are a core part of my work, and now I’m completely stuck.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Is there any chance this will be fixed soon? I’m really counting on it because time literally means money for me right now!

Best regards, Ann

Hi Ann,

We completely understand that it can be disruptive when CapCut you rely on for your professional work suddenly stops functioning, especially when it directly impacts your income. Losing the ability to edit shorts with CapCut 5.2.0 is definitely a major problem.

While we don't have direct access to CapCut's bug reports or development schedule, we can certainly try to help you with potential solutions.

What you can do right now:

  • Try Basic Troubleshooting: While it sounds like a CapCut bug, sometimes basic steps can help rule out other issues:
    • Update CapCut to latest version 5.9.1 for PC which has been released for April 2025.
    • Restart your device: This might temporarily resolve some software glitches.
    • Clear CapCut's cache: Go to your device's settings, find the CapCut app, and look for options to clear cache.
    • Check your device's storage and RAM: Ensure you have enough free space on your device and that your RAM isn't overloaded.
    • Try editing a different type of video: Does the crashing only happen with shorts, or are other video formats also affected? This could help narrow down the issue.
    • Reinstall CapCut: Sometimes a fresh installation can fix corrupted files. Uninstall the app completely and then reinstall it from your app store.
  • Report the Issue Directly to CapCut: The most direct way to get CapCut's attention and contribute to a fix is to report the bug by writing a mail to CapCut development team at [email protected]. The more users report the same issue, the higher the priority it will likely receive.
    • Mention the exact version number (5.2.0).
    • Specify that the crashes occur specifically when editing shorts.
    • Provide details about your device (operating system, model, etc.).
    • Explain the impact this is having on your professional work and income.
    • If possible, include any steps to reproduce the crash.

It is possible that this is a bug specific to certain devices, operating systems, or even specific types of short-form content you're working with.
