Hello,
I am reaching out concerning an issue I have with my CapCut desktop Pro.
Basically, whenever I try to use the camera tracking with a custom element in my video I am not able to drag the blue window over the element I am interested in.
In particular, if click and hold while moving the blue window and moving the cursor to a direction, the box will bounce around randomly instead of moving in the desired direction.
Is this something you ever encountered before?
Thank you in advance!
Hi,
Based on your description, it seems like you are running into a glitch in the camera tracking tool on the desktop version of CapCut Pro, particularly when trying to define a tracking region using the blue box.
The tracking selection box behaving erratically and not following the mouse cursor smoothly – is a type of graphical user interface (GUI) glitch that can occur in complex software like video editors such as CapCut.
Here's a breakdown of what could be going on and how to troubleshoot:
-
Software Glitch/Bug: This is a common cause for unexpected UI behavior.
- Restart CapCut: Close the application completely and reopen it. This often resolves temporary glitches.
- Restart Your Computer: A full system restart can clear out underlying issues that might be affecting CapCut's performance.
- Check for Updates: Ensure you are using the latest version of CapCut Desktop Pro. Developers frequently release updates to fix bugs. Go to CapCut's settings or menu to check for updates.
-
Performance Issues: Camera tracking is resource-intensive. If your computer is struggling, it can lead to laggy or jumpy UI elements.
- Close Other Applications: Free up system resources (RAM, CPU, GPU) by closing unnecessary programs running in the background.
- Check System Requirements: Verify that your computer meets or exceeds the recommended system requirements for CapCut Pro, especially for features like tracking.
- Lower Preview Quality: If possible within CapCut's settings, try lowering the playback or preview resolution while editing. This can sometimes make the interface more responsive.
- Switch to Performance Mode: Go to Settings > Performance Mode and make sure it’s enabled (or switch to it if it's not). This can stabilize UI tools.
-
Input Device Issues: Problems with your mouse or trackpad could potentially cause erratic cursor behavior that affects dragging actions.
- Try a Different Mouse/Trackpad: If possible, test with a different input device to see if the problem persists.
- Check Mouse Drivers: Ensure your mouse drivers are up-to-date.
-
Corrupted Cache or Preferences: Sometimes, corrupted temporary files or settings can cause strange behavior.
- Clear CapCut Cache: Look within CapCut's settings for an option to clear the cache. If not available there, you might need to manually locate and clear CapCut's cache folders on your computer (search online for instructions specific to your operating system – Windows or macOS). Be careful when deleting files manually. Let us know if you need help with this.
- Reset Preferences: Reset preferences to default in CapCut, this might help, but be aware you will lose any custom settings.
-
Issue with Specific Project or Clip:
- Try a Different Clip: Test the camera tracking feature on a completely different video clip, preferably a simple one. Does the issue still occur?
- New Project: Create a brand new project and import just one simple clip. Try tracking on that to see if the problem is project-specific.
- Sometimes specific elements cause issues. Test the tracking on a default image or video in a new project to see if the issue is with your file.
-
Graphics Driver Issue: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause various display and UI problems in visually intensive applications.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and install the latest drivers for your specific model.
- If you're on Windows:
- Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters
- Right-click your GPU and click Update Driver
- Temporary Workaround: Until it’s fixed, try manually keyframing the element you want to track. It’s slower but gives you full control if the tracking box keeps acting up.
What to Check Next:
- Does this happen every time you try to use camera tracking, or only sometimes?
- Does it happen with any element you try to track, or only specific ones?
- Did this start happening recently, perhaps after an update to CapCut or your operating system?
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's likely a specific bug within CapCut. In that case, your best course of action would be to:
- Report the Bug to CapCut developers: Write an email to [email protected] to report the issue in detail, describing exactly what happens, your operating system, and your CapCut version.
