Auto Captions Not Working

I'm trying to use the auto caption feature in capcut pc for the past 2 days, and it's not working. The loading gets stuck at 29% and never ends, and it doesn't work for some reason. Can you fix this, please? It's affecting my work. I've attached a screenshot.

If the CapCut PC auto-caption feature is getting stuck at 29%, here are several troubleshooting steps that usually help resolve this issue:

1. Check Internet Connection

CapCut’s auto captioning requires a stable, high-speed internet connection since it uploads audio to its server for processing.

  • Avoid using VPNs, proxies, or firewalls that may block CapCut servers.

  • Try switching to a different network (e.g., mobile hotspot) temporarily.

2. Clear CapCut Cache

Corrupt cache can cause generation issues.

  • Open CapCut

  • Go to Settings > Preferences > Clear Cache

  • Restart CapCut and try again

3. Log Out and Log Back In

Sometimes session or token issues affect CapCut features.

  • Log out from CapCut

  • Close the app completely

  • Reopen and log in again

4. Update CapCut

An outdated version may have bugs related to captioning.

  • Go to CapCut’s official site or Microsoft Store and download the latest version.

  • Reinstalling over the current installation will retain your projects.

5. Check Audio Track

Make sure:

  • The video has clear, audible speech.

  • The correct audio track is selected (not muted or silent).

  • Try converting the audio to MP3 and reimporting.

6. Large or Long Video File

The size and duration of your video can impact the caption generation process. Extremely long or large video files might take a very long time to process, or could time out.

  • Try generating captions for a shorter, smaller video clip. If that works, it might indicate that the issue is related to the specific video you're working with. You could try splitting your long video into smaller parts and generating captions for each segment separately.

Test on a short 5–10 second clip with clear speech. If that works, the issue could be with:

  • File length

  • File format

  • Audio clarity

7. Corrupted project or video file

There might be an issue with the specific video file you are using or with the project itself.

  • Try importing the video into a new project and see if the auto-caption feature works there. You could also try converting your video file to a different format (e.g., MP4 to MOV) using a video converter and then importing it into CapCut.

8. Language settings

Ensure the language you selected matches the spoken language in the video. CapCut may freeze if it fails to detect expected speech patterns.

9. CapCut server issues

Sometimes CapCut servers experience temporary outages affecting features like AI captions. If many users are affected (especially around the same progress %), it could be a backend issue.

  • You can check on forums or Reddit like r/CapCut.

  • Wait and try again during off-peak hours.

10. Reinstall CapCut by preserving projects

You can safely reinstall CapCut without losing projects if you're signed in to your account.

Advanced option if nothing works:

If you are in a rush and it’s urgent, you can try using CapCut Web or CapCut Mobile to generate captions, then export as SRT/subtitle and re-import to PC.
