Hi,

My subscription expired about 5 days ago, but at the time I didn’t have sufficient funds on my card to renew it. Today, when I tried to resubscribe, I noticed that the price has tripled. I used to pay $10/month, but now it’s $30, which feels too high for the value I personally get from the service.

If this new price reflects a major update, I kindly ask if you could consider offering a plan without those new features. I mainly use just a few of the pro features and would prefer to continue using your platform rather than switching to a different DAW.

Please let me know if there’s any alternative solution available.

Thank you for your understanding!

Best regards,
Chiper Adelin

Hi,

Why the Price Increase?

  1. Recent Pricing Model Changes: CapCut has recently updated its pricing structure. CapCut has introduced different tiers (e.g., Standard, Pro, Teams) with varying features and prices. What was previously a single "Pro" tier at $10 is now a more expensive "Pro" tier with additional features, or you might be looking at a different plan altogether.

  2. Geographical Pricing Differences: Prices can vary by region. It's possible the pricing in your region has been adjusted.

  3. Promotional Price Expired: If your original $10/month rate was due to a promotional or discounted period, it's possible the new price reflects the standard rate after expiry.

  4. Expired "Grandfathered" Rates: If you had an older subscription, you might have been on a "grandfathered" rate that was lower than current pricing. When your subscription expired, you likely lost that old rate and are now being offered the new, higher standard price. Many users have reported this exact scenario.
  5. Platform-Specific Pricing: Subscribing via iOS/Google Play can sometimes be more expensive due to app store fees. Try logging in via the CapCut website or desktop app to see if it's cheaper.

  6. Removal of Free Cloud Storage: CapCut has also removed its free 10GB cloud storage, now requiring payment for any cloud storage. This could be a factor in overall subscription costs if you were relying on that.
  7. Increased Features and AI Tools: CapCut has been adding more advanced features, particularly AI-powered tools (like AI background removal, auto-captioning, AI motion tracking, etc.). These advanced features often come with a higher price tag.

What you can do about it?

  • Check on Desktop: Visit https://www.capcut.com and log in to your account. Then check the "Upgrade" or "My Plan" section for available pricing. Sometimes the desktop version shows cheaper options.

  • Check the Current Plans Carefully:

    • Log into your CapCut account (on desktop or through the app) and carefully review the available subscription plans.
    • See if there's a "Standard" plan that offers similar features to what you were using for a lower price, even if it's not exactly $10.
    • Compare the features offered in the new $30 plan versus what you were getting for $10. You might be paying for features you don't need.
  • Try Downgrading: Look if there's a basic or personal Pro plan still available instead of the team/business version.
  • Consider Annual Subscription:

    • Annual subscriptions are significantly cheaper per month than monthly subscriptions. Check if there's a discounted annual rate that makes the overall cost more palatable. The annual price is $89.99 for the Pro plan, which averages out to about $7.50/month.
  • Contact CapCut Support:

    • Use the email address: [email protected].
    • Explain your situation clearly: you were paying $10/month, your subscription expired, and now it's $30.
    • Ask if there's any way to reinstate your previous pricing or if there's a different plan that matches your previous usage and budget.
    • Be polite but firm in explaining your situation.
  • Explore alternatives:

It is likely that your old $10/month plan is no longer offered for new subscriptions or lapsed ones, and CapCut has increased its pricing and restructured its plans recently.

Your best bet is to clarify the exact plan you're being offered now, what it includes, and then try to negotiate or find a more suitable option.
