CapCut is only exporting 3 seconds of a 25-second video (Pro account)

I'm hoping someone with more experience can help me figure out what's going on.

I have a CapCut Pro account, but whenever I export my 25-second video, it only exports the first 3 seconds. My internet connection is stable, and I've already tried exporting from both the desktop app and the web version with the same result.

I also checked the timeline and don't see any end markers or other obvious issues that would cause the export to stop after 3 seconds.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be causing it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Since you aren’t seeing any obvious end markers on your timeline, there are two highly likely culprits causing this issue: an accidental "In and Out" range selection (which grays out the rest of the timeline and restricts exports) or a corrupted asset/hardware encoding glitch occurring right at the 3-second mark.

Follow these steps in order to isolate and resolve the issue:

1. Clear Accidental 'In and Out' Markers:

CapCut PC/Web has a feature where hitting I (In) and O (Out) on your keyboard sets a restricted export range. If you accidentally pressed these, CapCut will only export that exact window.

  • Check the Timeline: Look closely at your timeline ruler. Is there a tiny highlighted blue/gray segment around the 3-second mark, while the rest of the timeline looks slightly dimmed or grayed out?

  • The Fix: Right-click anywhere on the timeline and select "Cancel" or click the tiny "Cancel" text overlay on the timeline ruler. Alternatively, you can press Shift + X to clear any active range selections.

2. Disable Hardware Encoding:

Sometimes your computer's GPU hardware acceleration fails early in the rendering process, causing the export to silently crash and output an incomplete video.

  • The Fix (Desktop): Go to the top-left Menu -> Settings -> Performance tab.

  • Uncheck "Speed up hardware encoding" (or Hardware Acceleration). Save the settings and try exporting again.

3. Test for a Corrupted Element at Second 3:

If there is a corrupted clip, keyframe, heavy effect, transition, or text layer right at the 3-second mark, the render engine will often stop rendering immediately and package whatever it completed up to that point.

  • The Fix: Go to your CapCut homepage, duplicate the project (to protect your original draft), and open the copy.

  • Delete the first 4 seconds of your timeline and try to export. If the remaining 21 seconds export perfectly, you know the culprit is a corrupted element, effect, or cut right around that 3-second boundary on your original timeline.

4.Clear Cache and Duplicate the Project:

Large cache build-ups can cause memory leaks that halt exports early.

  • The Fix: Go to Settings in CapCut and clear your app cache.

  • After clearing it, duplicate your project once more and try exporting the fresh duplicate. Duplicating forces CapCut to rebuild the project's temporary render files, which often clears out hidden errors.

Note on Storage: Even with a Pro account, CapCut needs temporary drive space on your local computer to compile the video. Double-check that your computer’s primary hard drive (C: drive for Windows) has at least 5–10 GB of free space.
