Hey,
i try to auto lipsync my iphone videos with mp3 songs, but the video is always a bit late back. So what can i do? cause if i zoom in and try just to minimal move the videotrack it jumps right away to the next frame. so there is no subframing in capcut i guess.
Anyone has the same issue and a solution?
Thanks
Hi,
CapCut does not support sub-frame audio/video shifting (on iOS or desktop).
It only snaps to whole-frame increments, which is why you can’t nudge your video by a few milliseconds as it will always jump one full frame forward/back. This is exactly why your lipsync remains slightly off.
Based on our experience, we will suggest below methods to fix your issue:
Shift the audio instead of the video
CapCut does allow more fine-grained audio shifting than video.
Try:
-
Tap your MP3 track
-
Tap Edit → Speed → Curve or Edit → Match cut
-
You can sometimes slide or stretch audio with smaller increments than video.
If the video lags behind, nudge the audio slightly earlier, not the video.
Adjust FPS or project settings
If your video is recorded in 60fps but your CapCut project is 30fps, CapCut will “re-frame” things and cause visible desync.
Check:
Project settings → Format → Frame rate → match the source video (30 / 60 fps)
Matching FPS often fixes micro-lag.
Use “Auto Captions → Align with audio” trick
This is a known workaround for micro-alignment:
-
Generate Auto Captions for your voice
-
CapCut places caption markers exactly where the AI detects speech
-
Drag your audio or video track to visually line up with those markers
This gives you a more precise reference than frame dragging.
Pre-sync outside of CapCut
If you truly need sub-frame precision, CapCut cannot do it.
Creators commonly use:
-
DaVinci Resolve (free)
-
Final Cut Pro (Mac/iOS ecosystem)
-
LumaFusion (iOS, supports sub-frame or at least audio-sample nudging)
Then export the synced video and continue editing in CapCut.
Time-stretch the video slightly
If the sync drift increases over time (not constant), then the video and audio lengths differ slightly.
Try:
-
Select the video
-
Tap Speed → Normal
-
Adjust speed by 0.98–1.02 until the entire clip remains synced
This fixes gradual drift.
Why CapCut lipsync is “late”
CapCut’s Auto Lip Sync is optimized for TikTok creators and isn’t very precise.
It introduces a 30–80ms delay depending on:
-
Device
-
Original FPS
-
Audio waveform clarity
-
Compression

If you upload:
