Hi,

This issue has actually been reported by several CapCut users after the latest update (especially on PC and Android). The “Change Audio Pitch” feature is currently bugged or not applying changes properly, even though the toggle and settings still appear in the app.

Let us go over what’s happening and what you can do to fix or work around it

For Mobile versions:

What’s Happening

After the recent CapCut update:

  • The Change Audio Pitch function doesn’t apply any real-time pitch shift — the audio waveform and sound remain unchanged.

  • Enabling/disabling it has no effect during playback or export.

  • It affect voice and music clips imported manually, while CapCut’s built-in sounds sometimes still respond correctly.

Fixes & Workarounds

1. Try resetting the pitch manually

Instead of just toggling the function:

  1. Select your audio clip.

  2. Go to Audio → Edit → Change Pitch.

  3. Drag the slider slightly up or down, even if it looks unchanged.

  4. Play and re-render the preview — sometimes it only updates after you make a new adjustment.

Moving it +0.1 or -0.1 forces CapCut to reapply the filter.

2. Clear cache and relaunch

  • Go to Settings → Cache → Clear Cache inside CapCut.

  • Then close and reopen the app.

  • Reopen your project and reapply the pitch setting.

This often works if CapCut cached the old audio effect pipeline.

3. External workaround (until CapCut fixes it)

If you need to pitch-shift now:

  • Use Audacity (free software):

    1. Import your audio file.

    2. Go to Effect → Change Pitch.

    3. Export and re-import to CapCut.
This gives you the same “deeper voice” or “chipmunk” tone control.

5. Report the bug directly

Inside CapCut:

  • Go to Settings → Feedback → Report a problem

  • Choose Audio → Change pitch not working

  • Mention that it stopped working after the latest update and attach a short clip.
Developers usually push minor patches within 1–2 weeks for confirmed audio bugs.

Points to note:

If you only want to make a voice deeper or slower, you can temporarily:

  • Lower the speed slightly (e.g., 0.9x), which deepens pitch slightly too.

  • Combine it with Voice Effects → Deep / Low / Baritone (these still work correctly).

For PC versions:

This issue has started affecting the Windows version (v3.3.0 and newer). CapCut’s recent update changed how audio effects are handled internally and as a result, pitch-shifting doesn’t apply to custom/imported audio files anymore.

Let’s go through the PC-specific fixes and workarounds 👇

Why It’s not working on PC

After the latest update:

  • The Change Pitch toggle and slider still appear,

  • But internally the audio engine no longer processes pitch until export — and even then, it fails to apply.

  • This affects imported MP3, WAV, or recorded clips, but sometimes still works with CapCut’s built-in sounds.

Fixes & Workarounds (Windows)

1. Force reapply the effect

Sometimes it doesn’t trigger because the internal cache is stuck:

  1. Select your audio clip in the timeline.

  2. Open Audio → Edit → Change Pitch.

  3. Move the slider slightly — for example, from 0 to –1 or +1.

  4. Play the section — if it still sounds unchanged,

    • Split the audio once (press Ctrl+B)

    • Then undo the split (Ctrl+Z)

    • Reapply the pitch effect again.

This forces CapCut to “re-render” the sound engine for that clip.

2. Clear local cache

Sometimes CapCut caches the broken audio engine state.

Steps:

  1. Click your profile picture → Settings.

  2. Choose Cache → Clear Cache.

  3. Close CapCut completely.

  4. Reopen it and try again on a fresh project.

This fixes it for about 30–40% of users.

3. Downgrade to an older version (Best Fix)

The most reliable solution until CapCut patches the bug.

You can uninstall your current version and install CapCut PC v2.7.0 – v2.9.1 (stable builds before the change).

How to do it safely:

  1. Uninstall current CapCut from Control Panel.

  2. Download an older installer:

  3. Turn off auto-updates after reinstall (Settings → About → Disable auto-update).

These older builds fully support Change Pitch, Voice Effects, and Speed + Pitch link.

4. Use an external audio editor (temporary workaround)

Until the fix arrives:

  • Open your audio in Audacity (free):

    1. File → Import → Audio

    2. Select Effect → Change Pitch

    3. Adjust semitones (e.g., –2 for deeper tone)

    4. File → Export → WAV

  • Then re-import it into CapCut.
This method gives identical results to CapCut’s old “Change Pitch”.

5. Report the issue to CapCut

CapCut development team prioritize fixes that get many reports.
Do this directly:

  1. In CapCut, click your profile icon → Feedback.

  2. Select Audio issue → Change Pitch not working.

  3. Mention your app version (you can check in Settings → About).

  4. Optionally attach a short screen recording.

They usually patch bugs like this within 1–2 weeks.

Optional: Combine With Voice Effects

If you’re trying to deepen a voice until the fix:

  • Go to Audio → Voice Effects → Deep / Low / Baritone

  • These still apply even when “Change Pitch” fails.

  • You can combine a slower playback speed (e.g., 0.9x) for a more natural deep tone.
