Hi,

There are a lot of reports of the same issue where AI voice characters (like Homer Simpson or others) randomly appear and disappear in CapCut. Here's why that happens and what you can and can't do about it:

Why Voice Characters appear and disappear in CapCut

  1. Server-Side A/B Testing

    • CapCut often tests new features (like AI voices) on random groups of users, temporarily. You might get access for a day or two, then lose it again as they rotate users.

    • If you saw a voice character and then it disappeared, you might have been part of a test group, and the feature was temporarily pulled or is being refined.
  2. Regional Availability

    • Some voices are only available in certain countries or regions due to licensing. If you're using a VPN or CapCut detects a location change, it might affect which voices appear.

    • CapCut has licenses and agreements that limit certain voices to specific geographical areas. Your location could affect which voices are available to you at any given time. Even if you don't change your location, CapCut's servers might sometimes route you through different regions, leading to inconsistencies.
  3. Licensing & Legal Issues

    • Some character voices are licensed for a specific period or for a limited number of uses. Once that license expires, the voice are removed from the app until a new agreement is reached. This is particularly true for popular or celebrity-like voices (like your Homer Simpson example).
  4. App Version or Server Glitch

    • CapCut’s backend might not sync properly, leading to voice options vanishing randomly—even if you didn’t change anything.

    • CapCut is constantly updating its app. With each update, features can be added, removed, or modified. A voice character you saw one day might be taken down for maintenance, or removed entirely in a new version of the app. Conversely, new voices are often added without prior notice.

What you can try

The "here today, gone tomorrow, back the next day" phenomenon you're experiencing strongly points to a combination of A/B testing and potential regional fluctuations or temporary system issues. CapCut is trying out new things, and sometimes those tests or deployments aren't perfectly smooth or consistent for all users.

To increase the chance of keeping your favorite voice options consistent:

  • Update CapCut to the latest version. While this won't guarantee consistency, it will ensure you have access to the most current set of features and any bug fixes.

  • Avoid VPNs or IP/location changes.

  • Clear cache or reinstall the app (only if you're backed up and comfortable doing so).

  • Check at different times of day — some features get rolled out during peak hours.

  • Consider Alternatives (for critical projects): If you rely heavily on specific text-to-voice characters for professional or important projects, you might consider having a backup plan using other text-to-speech services online or in different editing software that offers more stable voice libraries.

What you can’t control

  • There's no way to "lock in" a voice character permanently, unless CapCut decides to make it a core feature.

  • You can't manually add those voice characters unless CapCut provides a way to import or download them which they currently don’t.

Pro Tip (Workaround)

If you do see a voice you like, generate all the audio clips you need in one go and export or screen record the result—that way you don’t lose it when it disappears again.

Provide Feedback to CapCut: While it might feel like a drop in the ocean, CapCut developers do listen to user feedback. If you're consistently missing a voice you like, consider using the in-app feedback option or email them at [email protected] to let them know.

Unfortunately, for consumer-facing apps like CapCut, this kind of fluctuating feature availability is often a byproduct of their rapid development and testing cycles. But it's part of how CapCut iterate and improve the platform.
