Hi! Today, I encountered a problem that prevented me from finding the recycle bin on the app's page. After inquiring, I discovered that I wasn't alone in facing this issue.

Hi,

The missing Recycle Bin (Trash/Deleted Projects) issue in CapCut has been affecting many users recently, especially after the latest app update (both on mobile and PC/web). Let’s go over what’s happening, why it’s missing, and what you can do to recover deleted projects.

What’s happening?

CapCut previously had a “Recycle Bin” or “Recently Deleted” section where deleted projects were temporarily stored (typically for 30 days). However, since the latest version rollout in early October 2025, this feature:

  • Disappeared entirely from some users’ accounts.

  • Moved to a different location for others (especially Pro users).

  • Or stopped syncing properly with the cloud (especially on the web and Windows desktop app).

This issue appears to affect both CapCut Pro and Free users, and mainly impacts:

  • CapCut PC/Desktop app (Windows/Mac)

  • CapCut Web version

  • CapCut Mobile (iOS/Android) after the October update

Reasons why this is happening:

  1. Feature rollout change: CapCut may be migrating the Recycle Bin feature or temporarily disabling it during backend maintenance.

  2. Account type difference: In some regions or for non-Pro users, the Recycle Bin is now available only for projects saved to the CapCut Cloud.

  3. Sync bug: Cloud project syncing occasionally breaks, causing deleted projects not to show in the bin.

  4. App update glitch: The new interface hides it temporarily until you clear cache or re-login.

Where to check?

Try these depending on your device:

On CapCut Web

  • Go to https://www.capcut.com/myprojects

  • Look for a sidebar option or dropdown near “My Projects.”

  • If you don’t see “Recycle Bin,” log out → clear browser cache → log back in.

  • Still missing? Try switching between Personal and Team/Workspace tabs (the bin may appear under one of them).

On CapCut Desktop App

  • Open the app → click your profile icon (top-right) → choose “My Projects.”

  • If no “Recycle Bin” is visible, click the cloud icon or Settings > Cloud Backup → check if your deleted projects are listed under Archived or Recently Deleted.

  • Try reinstalling or updating the app (don’t worry, your Pro account and cloud projects are preserved if you log in again).

On Mobile (Android/iPhone)

  • Tap Profile → Cloud Space → My Projects.

  • Scroll down; in some versions, the Recycle Bin appears under Cloud Space settings.

  • If it’s not there, try:

    • Updating the app

    • Logging out and back in

    • Changing the region/language temporarily (some users found it reappears)

Quick fixes to try

  1. Update the app to the latest version (important—some users got the bin back after the patch).

  2. Clear app cache:

    • On mobile: Settings → Apps → CapCut → Storage → Clear Cache.

    • On PC: Settings → Storage → Clear Cache Data.

  3. Log out and back in to your CapCut account.

  4. Check the web version – sometimes deleted projects are still visible there even if not on the app.

  5. Contact CapCut Support:

    • Go to Profile → Settings → Help → Report a Problem

    • Mention: “Recycle Bin missing after latest update”

    • Attach a screenshot if possible

Tip for the future

To avoid losing projects until CapCut restores the Recycle Bin:

  • Always enable Cloud Backup for all your projects.

  • Manually export project files (.capcutproj on PC or “Duplicate Project” on mobile) for offline safety.
