I recently had to delete and reinstall the app because of an issue where my filters while trying to colour grade were not working. After reinstalling and signing back in under the same account all my projects were missing. I had a couple of clients edits saved under this account. Please let me how to recover the cloud -synced projects linked to my account. My device is a IPhone 14, IOS 17.

Hi,

We are really sorry you are going through this — losing client work can be very stressful. Here's how you can try to recover your CapCut cloud-synced projects on your iPhone 14 (iOS 17):

1. Check the CapCut "Trash" or "Recycle Bin"

CapCut has a built-in "Trash" or "Recycle Bin" section where recently deleted projects are stored for a limited time (up to 30 days). Even though you reinstalled, if your account was linked and the projects were synced, they might still be there.

  • Open the CapCut app.

  • Tap on "Library" (at the bottom of the screen).

  • Scroll down and look for a "Trash" or "More" section, and then "Trash."

  • Look for your missing projects. If you find them, tap the three dots next to the project and select "Restore."

2. Access "My Space" / Cloud Projects in CapCut

CapCut offers a "My Space" or "Cloud Projects" feature for synced content. Since you signed back in with the same account, your synced projects should ideally be accessible here.

  • Open the CapCut app and ensure you are logged into the correct account.

  • Look for a "Space" or "Cloud Projects" section. This might be on the main screen or within the "Library" section.

  • Browse through the uploaded videos/projects. If you see your projects listed, you should be able to download them back to your device for editing.

3. Make Sure You're Signed In to the Correct Account

Sometimes CapCut creates multiple accounts based on:

  • Apple ID

  • Phone number

  • Email

  • Facebook / Google

To verify:

  • Open CapCut.

  • Tap on “Me” (bottom-right).

  • Check which method you’re signed in with.

  • Try logging out and signing in again using your other login methods to see if the projects reappear.

4. Ensure Cloud Sync is Enabled

While you likely had it enabled before, it's worth double-checking after a reinstall.

  • In CapCut settings, look for options related to "Cloud Sync," "Project Sync," or "Auto Upload." Ensure this feature is turned on.

  • After logging in to the correct account:
    • Tap “Cloud” icon or go to “Projects” > “Cloud Backup”.
    • Your saved cloud projects should appear here.
  • If it’s empty, your projects might not have synced correctly before reinstalling.

5. Check iCloud Drive (If You Had It Enabled)

If you had iCloud Drive enabled for CapCut, your projects may be backed up there:

  1. Open Files app on your iPhone.

  2. Navigate to iCloud Drive > CapCut.

  3. Check for any .capcut project files or exported videos.

6. Troubleshooting Cloud Sync Issues

If you're still not seeing your projects, try these general troubleshooting steps for cloud syncing:

  • Check your internet connection: A stable internet connection is crucial for cloud sync.

  • Refresh the CapCut app: Close the app completely (swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the app switcher, then swipe CapCut up to close it) and then reopen it.

  • Log out and log back in: Sometimes, re-authenticating your account can resolve sync issues.

  • Check for CapCut app updates: Ensure your CapCut app is the latest version. App bugs can sometimes affect cloud sync.

  • Clear CapCut cache (as a last resort): Be cautious with this, as clearing the cache can sometimes remove locally stored data. However, if your projects were genuinely cloud-synced, clearing the cache shouldn't affect them in the cloud. You can usually find this option in your iPhone's Settings app, under Settings > General > iPhone Storage > CapCut > Offload App or Delete App (and then reinstall). Choosing "Offload App" is safer as it attempts to retain documents and data.

Contact CapCut Support Immediately

If none of the above helps, you should contact CapCut directly. Since this involves client work, explain that clearly:

  • Go to CapCut app > Me > Settings > Help Center > Feedback

  • Or email the customer support directly: [email protected]
  • Describe your issue:

I recently reinstalled CapCut due to a filter issue. After logging back into the same account on my iPhone 14 (iOS 17), all my cloud-synced projects disappeared. These included important client edits. Please help me recover them urgently.
  • Attach screenshots of:

    • Your current account login

    • Any previous proof of project sync/export (if you have)

Prevention Tip for the Future

Enable automatic cloud sync:

  • Open CapCut > Settings > Cloud Backup > Turn ON

  • Regularly back up project files manually to iCloud or export .capcut files to your Files app

Important Considerations:

  • Time Limit for "Trash": Projects in CapCut's trash are typically only kept for 7 to 30 days. If it's been longer than that since the projects were "deleted" (in this case, effectively deleted from local storage during reinstall), they might be permanently gone from that section.

  • Local vs. Cloud: The crucial factor here is whether your projects were actually synced to the CapCut cloud. If they were only saved locally on your device and not uploaded to the cloud, reinstalling the app would have deleted them. Always enable cloud sync for important projects.

  • External Backups: For critical client work, it's always a good practice to export your finished videos or even project files (if CapCut allows for project file export) and back them up to a separate cloud storage service (like iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox) or an external hard drive.

If, after trying all these steps, your projects are still missing, you might be out of luck if they weren't truly cloud-synced. For future projects, ensure CapCut's cloud sync is enabled and consider additional external backups for peace of mind.
