Problem: attempting to login through desktop client via Google account.

Steps:

  1. Open desktop client, choose Sign In (normal/good)
  2. Choose use Sign In with Google (normal/good)
  3. Browser opens and I sign in to my Google account (normal/good)
  4. Google requests access to connect CapCut, Accept (normal/good)
  5. Get "Success" indicator in Browser
  6. Browser offers button "Open CapCut"
  7. CapCut does NOT login, it remains a logged out program.

Restarting app does not offer a solution.

Please help.

Hi,

You are experiencing difficulties signing into the CapCut desktop client using your Google account. This issue can happen from several factors, including browser settings, application permissions, or system configurations. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem:

1. Set Your Default Browser: Ensure that your default web browser is set correctly, as the authentication process relies on it.

  • Change Default Browser:
  • On Windows, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps.
  • Scroll down to Web browser and select your preferred browser (e.g., Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge).
  • Try a Different Browser: If the issue persists, consider setting a different browser as the default to see if that resolves the problem.

2. Check Browser Permissions: Your browser needs permission to open external applications like CapCut.

  • After clicking the "Open CapCut" button in the browser, ensure that you allow the browser to open the CapCut application.
  • If prompted, check the option to remember your choice for future logins.
  • Ensure that at the time of login, you provide complete access to capcut from your Google account.

3. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Accumulated cache and cookies can interfere with the login process.

  • In your browser, access settings and clear browsing data, including cache and cookies.
  • Restart the browser and attempt the login process again.

4. Disable Browser Extensions: Some extensions might block pop-ups or redirects necessary for authentication.

  • Temporarily disable extensions, especially those related to privacy or ad-blocking, and try logging in again.

5. Update or Reinstall CapCut: An outdated or corrupted application can cause login issues.

  • Ensure you have the latest version of CapCut installed.
  • If the problem continues, uninstall CapCut, download the latest version from the official website, and reinstall it.

6. Check for Multiple Google Accounts: Being signed into multiple Google accounts simultaneously can cause conflicts.

  • Log out of all Google accounts in your browser.
  • Log back in with only the account you wish to use with CapCut and attempt the login process again.

7. Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Security software might block the connection between your browser and the CapCut application.

  • Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and try logging in.
  • If this resolves the issue, add CapCut to the exceptions list of your security software.

8. Manual Account Linking: If the above steps don't help, consider linking your Google account to a CapCut-specific username and password.

  • Visit CapCut's official website and log in using your Google account.
  • Navigate to your account settings and set up a username and password.
  • Use these credentials to log into the desktop client directly.

9. Check CapCut desktop permissions:

  •  Windows: Go to Windows Settings > Privacy > App permissions. See if there's a section related to "Account access" or similar and check if CapCut is listed and allowed.
  • macOS: Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy. Check each category (like "Contacts," "Calendars," etc.) and see if CapCut is listed and if permissions seem relevant to account access.

10. Older Version Compatibility: Try installing an older version of CapCut and then updating to the latest version or continue using on older version for the time being until the bug is resolved in the next version.

11. Mobile Account Link Workaround:

  •  If none of the above work, try this workaround:
  • Install CapCut on your mobile phone (if you don't have it already).
  • Open CapCut mobile and try signing in with your Google account there.
  • If successful on mobile, then try signing in again on the desktop client using the Google option.

These steps are general troubleshooting methods that have been effective in similar situations. If the issue persists, it's advisable to contact CapCut's support at [email protected] for assistance tailored to your specific situation.

We hope this helps resolve your login issue with the CapCut desktop client.
