Hello,
Yesterday I finished editing a video and was in the middle of exporting it (with 1-time free Pro features) but then my computer crashed. Now I am no longer able to export the video anymore because there were some Pro features used, but I do not have Pro.
But because my computer crashed, I never got to export the video... could you please kindly help me?? I really need to export the video and want to see what it looks like before committing to purchasing Pro.
My CapCut ID is 9270768823
Thank you so much!
Hi,
Unfortunately in this forum we can not access your account and provide you with the export video. However, based on our research we will surely help you.
When you started the export the first time, CapCut let you use the 1-time free trial of Pro features for that project. But because your computer crashed before the export finished, CapCut now sees the trial as already "used," even though you never got the final file. That's why it’s now locking you out unless you buy Pro.
Unfortunately, CapCut doesn’t let you "retry" the 1-time free export after a crash — even if it’s not your fault.
What exactly is happening in your case:
- The "1-time free Pro features" offer likely applied specifically to that export process. When your computer crashed, that specific instance of using the Pro features for free was interrupted and essentially lost
- Now, when you reopen CapCut and try to export again, the software checks your project for Pro features. Since it detects them and you don't have an active Pro subscription (and the one-time offer isn't active anymore), it blocks the export, prompting you to subscribe.
- Unfortunately, CapCut doesn't have a built-in way to "remember" that you were about to export for free when the crash occurred. The system simply sees Pro features in the project and requires a Pro license for export.
Possible solutions:
-
Duplicate the project and try exporting again:
-
Open CapCut.
-
Right-click your project and choose Duplicate.
-
Open the duplicated version and try to export.
(It probably will still block Pro features, but it's worth trying just in case.)
-
- Look for the Free Trial again:
- Check within the app (in the "Me" or profile section, or via pop-ups) to see if the free trial offer is available to you again.
- If you can activate the free trial, you could export your video with the Pro features intact during the trial period.
- Alternatively, try creating another free account using another email ID of yours. Now re-import all your media assets from older account to new account. Try opting for the free trial in this new account and export.
- Caution: Remember to cancel the trial before it ends if you don't want to be charged for the subscription.
-
Remove the Pro features manually:
-
Go back into your project timeline in CapCut.
-
Carefully look for any effects, transitions, filters, text styles, stickers, audio tracks, or even specific export settings (like higher resolution/frame rates) that have a small "Pro" badge or icon on them.
-
Replace every single Pro feature you find with a free alternative available in CapCut.
Once all Pro elements are removed, you should be able to export the video using the standard free export options. -
Downside: The video won't look exactly like the version you were about to export, as you'll lose the specific Pro enhancements. However, it allows you to export a version for free and see the core editing work.

Temporary Pro purchase:
- If seeing the exact final version with the Pro features is essential before deciding on a longer commitment, you might consider subscribing to CapCut Pro for the shortest possible duration.
-
You could subscribe to Pro for just 1 month (it’s around $10), export your video immediately, and then you can decide whether to keep the subscription or cancel it before the next billing cycle.
-
You'd just pay for one month and be able to export everything cleanly, in full quality.
- Contact CapCut Support team:
- Try reaching out to CapCut's customer support by writing an email to [email protected]. Explain the situation clearly: you were using the one-time free Pro export, the app crashed during the process, and now you can't complete it.
- It's unlikely they can manually re-enable the free export for you, as CapCut's systems are automated, but it's worth a try if the other options don't work. Don't count on this one, but it costs nothing to ask.
If you want, you can also tell us what Pro features you used (like which effects or transitions), and we can help you figure out which ones to replace with free ones, so you can still get a similar result without paying.
Unfortunately, because the crash interrupted the specific instance where you were allowed the free Pro export, you likely can't just pick up where you left off without paying or removing the Pro features. Your best bet for a free export is removing Pro features, or possibly if a trial can be activated again.
If you absolutely need to see the version with the Pro features, temporary Pro purchase is the most reliable, though it involves paying.
