Hello, Hope you're well.
I have been having this issue with my capcut, First I lost the basic transitions [which even now I didn't get back] So I decided to update the Capcut to 6.4.0 Version thinking I would get the animations back but it got worse, my capcut is now stucking at every click, whenever I add some effect or click or any layer or import something, capcut stays stuck for 4-5 seconds.
My specs are :
Ryzen 5 3600x
GTX1060
B450m
Can you help me out, whats the prolem? I did clear cache and tried VPN, even tried the old version 6.3.0
Hi,
Thanks for the detailed explanation—based on everything you’ve described, here’s a breakdown of what’s likely going on and what you can do to fix it.
Problem Summary:
-
Missing basic transitions/animations (persisting even after update).
-
Updated to CapCut 6.4.0 — issue worsened: frequent freezing/hanging (4–5 seconds) after basic actions.
-
Tried reverting to 6.3.0 — no improvement.
-
You already cleared cache + tried VPN.
Your PC specs (Ryzen 5 3600X, GTX 1060, B450M board) are more than capable of running CapCut smoothly.
Let's break down the problems and potential solutions:
Problem 1: Lost Basic Transitions
This is a known bug that some CapCut users experience. While you've tried clearing cache and VPN, here are a few more things to consider:
- Re-login/Restart: Sometimes, a complete logout and re-login, or a full restart of CapCut and even your PC, can refresh the assets.
- Check internet connection: Even if you're editing locally, CapCut fetches assets like transitions from its servers. A fluctuating or slow internet connection could cause them not to load properly. Try a different network if possible, or ensure your current connection is stable.
- Corrupted installation: It's possible the installation itself became corrupted. Reinstalling CapCut (after backing up any projects) might be necessary to get all the default assets back.
-
Do a full clean reinstall (not just uninstall):
-
Uninstall CapCut fully
-
Manually delete residual folders:
-
C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\CapCut
-
C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\CapCut
-
C:\Program Files\CapCut
orC:\Program Files (x86)\CapCut
(Make sure to back up projects if needed — stored in
Documents\CapCut
or within AppData) -
-
Reboot your PC
-
Reinstall latest CapCut PC version from the official global site (not any third-party sites)
Try using the CapCut Web version temporarily to check if your transitions are available there.
-
- Regional restrictions/server issues: While less common for basic transitions, some CapCut features can be region-locked or experience temporary server issues. Using a VPN might help with this, but since you've tried it, it's less likely to be the primary cause here.
-
Sometimes CapCut’s asset libraries fail to load due to regional server issues or broken links. Try switching CapCut region via VPN to:
-
USA, Singapore, or Japan (stable global servers)
-
After VPN, log out & log back in
-
Wait a few minutes for transitions to load fully
-
Go to Transitions tab > Refresh icon
-
- Check for "Apply to All" issues: After applying a transition to all clips, some transitions disappear. If you've been using that feature, try adding transitions individually or see if changing one then applying to all helps.
- Bypass the bug (temporary fix): If a transition is missing, dragging and dropping a different transition, then using Ctrl+Z (undo), can sometimes make the original transition appear. This is a workaround, not a fix, but might help in a pinch.
Problem 2: CapCut Stucking/Lagging (4-5 seconds delay)
This is a more severe performance issue, and it's particularly concerning that it worsened after the update. Given your specs, this shouldn't be happening.
Here's a detailed troubleshooting guide for the lagging:
1. CapCut Internal Settings:
- Enable Proxy Editing: This is crucial for smooth editing, especially with higher resolution footage. Proxy files are low-resolution copies of your original video that CapCut uses for smoother playback and editing, then switches back to the high-res files for export.
- In CapCut, go to Settings (a gear icon).
- Look for a "Performance" or "Project Settings" tab.
- Find "Proxy" or "Enable Proxy" and turn it on.
- Set a reasonable proxy resolution (e.g., 720p or 540p).
- Adjust Preview Quality:
- Above your preview window, there should be a three-line icon or similar settings.
- Click on it and select "Preview Quality" or similar.
- Change it from "Best Quality" to "Best Performance" or a lower resolution. This only affects the preview, not the final export.
- Hardware Acceleration:
- In CapCut's settings, look for options related to "Hardware Acceleration," "GPU Rendering," or "Render interface with GPU."
- Ensure these are enabled. Your GTX 1060 should be utilized for better performance. If they are enabled, try disabling them and re-enabling them, or toggling them to see if it makes a difference.
- Clear Cache (again): You mentioned you did this, but ensure you do it from within CapCut's settings. Sometimes, simply deleting files from the cache folder manually isn't as effective as the in-app option.
- Go to CapCut's Settings.
- Look for "Cache Size" or "Clear Cache" and perform the action.
2. System-Level Checks:
- Graphics Driver Update: Your GTX 1060 relies on up-to-date drivers.
-
Update your GPU drivers (NVIDIA GTX 1060) via GeForce Experience
-
Disable background apps (especially overlays like Discord, GeForce Overlay, MSI Afterburner)
-
- Windows Graphics Settings: You can force Windows to use your dedicated GPU for CapCut.
- Go to Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings (or search "Graphics settings").
- Click "Browse" and navigate to where CapCut is installed (usually
C:\Program Files\CapCut\CapCut.exe
). - Select
CapCut.exe
and click "Add." - Once added, click "Options" for CapCut and select "High performance" (this forces it to use your GTX 1060). Click "Save."
- Close Background Applications: Ensure no other demanding applications are running in the background while you're using CapCut (e.g., other video editors, games, web browsers with many tabs, streaming services).
- Disk Space: Ensure you have ample free space on your drive, especially on the drive where CapCut is installed and where your project files are located. Video editing requires a lot of temporary storage.
- Malware Scan: While less likely, malware can sometimes cause system-wide slowdowns. Run a full scan with your antivirus software.
- Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows operating system is fully up to date.
- Power Plan: In Windows, ensure your power plan is set to "High performance" when you're editing.
If none of the above works, there might be:
-
Windows permission conflicts
-
Missing runtimes
-
Make sure your Windows is fully updated
-
Install/repair:
-
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables (2015–2022)
-
DirectX Runtime
-
-
Try running CapCut as Administrator
3. CapCut Version Specifics:
- Rollback to a Stable Version: Since the issue worsened with 6.4.0, trying 6.3.0 again is a good step. If 6.3.0 also lags, it points to a broader system or CapCut interaction issue.
- Wait for a new update: Sometimes, updates introduce bugs that are later patched. Keep an eye on CapCut's official channels for future updates that might address performance issues.
Summary and Recommended Action Plan:
- Prioritize In-App CapCut Settings:
- Enable Proxy Editing immediately. This is the most common fix for playback and editing lag.
- Adjust Preview Quality to "Best Performance."
- Ensure Hardware Acceleration is enabled.
- Clear CapCut's cache through its settings.
- Update Graphics Drivers (Clean Install): This is very important.
- Set CapCut to "High Performance" in Windows Graphics Settings.
- Test older versions carefully. If 6.3.0 still lags after doing the above, the issue might be more persistent or related to your specific Windows configuration rather than just the CapCut update.
- Reinstall CapCut (as a last resort for persistent issues): If none of the above helps, completely uninstall CapCut, restart your computer, and then download a fresh installer from the official CapCut website.
It's a process of elimination. Start with the easiest and most likely solutions first, and work your way through.
also there's no issue with the playback, preview is working smooth, just the thing is whenever I click any layer or import anything or even drag any clip, it stucks for 5 seconds or even more, sometimes even it says not responding, this is messing up all my workflow
