Hi,

There's a bug on the Mac desktop version of CapCut where the 'In' tab under 'Animation' is empty. Existing animations in the timeline are still working.

Several users on Reddit have reported the same issue:

Hi,

This “Animation → In tab empty” bug in CapCut on Mac is a known issue, others have reported similar behaviour.

Here are possible causes and some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Possible causes

Following are the likely reasons the “In” animations disappear or show empty:

  1. Version / update issue
The bug often appears after a version update. Some animations/assets don’t load properly post‑update.

  2. Missing / corrupted asset files
The animation presets/assets might be missing, corrupted, or failing to download/load. The app shows them applied on old clips, but new ones cannot access them.

  3. Cache issues
Cache or local resource storage might be corrupted or incomplete, leading to UI/display problems.

  4. Account / Subscription mismatch
Sometimes PRO / paid animation packs or effects are unavailable if the app doesn't recognize the account status properly. Could be a mismatch, or CapCut temporarily disabling features.

  5. Region / Server side rollout / Content availability
Some resources/animations are served via server or are region‑locked; changes in server configuration or region restrictions may cause animations to not be visible. Reports indicate using VPN to a different region sometimes restores missing animations temporarily.

  6. Display/UI glitch
The functionality seems to still exist for older clips (animations still work), but displaying the list in the “In” tab fails. So likely a bug in how the UI fetches or shows the animation list for new selections.

Based on our research, here are workarounds people have used, with varying success:

  • Restart the app / reboot the Mac – simple but sometimes clears temporary glitches.

  • Log out and back into CapCut – ensures the account status is re‑synced.

  • Clear the CapCut cache / local data – either from settings or manually removing cache/app support data.

  • Reinstall CapCut – removing corrupted files, then installing a fresh version.

  • Use a VPN to change region – sometimes the missing animations are restored when connected via VPN to certain countries like US, UK, Canada.

  • Try in a new project – to see whether the issue is project‑specific. If “In” animations show in a fresh project, then the issue could be with the project file.

What you can try

Here are steps you can take to attempt resolving it:

  1. Check for updates
Make sure your CapCut version on Mac is the latest. Sometimes latest updates are available that fix these UI bugs.

  2. Clear the cache / local assets

    • If CapCut has an option to clear cache or reset resource packs, use that.

    • If not, locate where CapCut stores its support or asset files (sometimes in ~/Library/Application Support/CapCut or similar) and clear problematic files (but back up if needed).

  3. Log out / Log in
Log out of your CapCut account, quit the app, then log back in.

  4. Reinstall
Uninstall CapCut completely, removing leftover files if possible, then reinstall fresh.

  5. Try VPN
If possible, try using VPN to a different region, open CapCut, and see if “In” animations list appears. If yes, then likely server‑side content delivery issue.

  6. Create a new project
With a blank project and simple clip/text, check if the “In” tab has animations. If yes, compare with your affected project.

  7. Contact CapCut support / send feedback
If nothing works, submit a bug report to CapCut with:

    • Your CapCut version number

    • macOS version

    • Screenshots or video showing “In” tab empty

    • A comparison (if possible) of a project where it works vs where it doesn’t

    • Mention any workarounds you've tried

If you can let us know your macOS version and CapCut version we can try to see whether there’s a patch or upcoming fix or a more precise workaround for your version.
