Hi I had Capcut Pro for £10.99 in the UK. It suddenly cancelled (I never cancelled it) and will not restore - restore button not working. It has downgraded me to standard and now to get pro it is charging me £21.99. How do I restore my original pro package for £10.99 - why has the price doubled?

Hi,

Based on the image you provided and your description, here is an analysis of your CapCut Pro issue and potential solutions:

  • Your CapCut Pro monthly plan (at £10.99) shows as "Cancelled" and expired on 2025/07/15.

  • You are currently on a Standard plan until 2025/08/03, but the "Restore subscription" button is not working.

  • Now, the new Pro price is showing as £21.99, almost double the previous amount.

  • "See more plans": This is where CapCut is directing you to choose a new plan, at the higher price you are seeing.

Why this may have happened:

  1. CapCut price increase: ByteDance (CapCut's parent company) has updated pricing in certain countries. If your original plan was cancelled—even due to a billing error, card expiry, or app store issue—restoring it may not lock in the old price.

  2. Different tiered plans: Currently there are 2 paid tiers viz. Standard and PRO. While the Standard plan provides certain additional features compared to free plan, the PRO tier unlocks all the features and is more expensive than the Standard tier.
  3. Billing system reset: Sometimes when a subscription is interrupted (even unintentionally), you lose legacy pricing and are forced to re-subscribe under new rates.

  4. Restore button not responding: This is a common bug where pressing "Restore Subscription" doesn’t trigger anything, especially if:

    • You're logged in with a different account.

    • Your app store (Google Play/App Store) doesn't recognize a matching active subscription.

  5. Original Subscription Expired/Canceled: The core issue is that your £10.99 Pro subscription has expired (on 2025/07/15) or was canceled. Once a subscription ends, you can't "restore" it at the old price, especially if that specific plan or pricing tier is no longer offered.
  6. Payment Method Issue: Your credit card expired, was declined, or there was an issue with your bank at the time of renewal which cancelled your plan.

Steps to try and fix or restore:

1. Make sure you’re logged in with the correct account:

  • Go to Profile → Settings → Account and confirm it's the same account (Google, Apple ID, TikTok, etc.) used for purchasing CapCut Pro originally.

2. Try restoring from App Store/Google Play directly:

  • For iOS (Apple App Store):

    • Go to Settings > Your Name (at the top) > Subscriptions.

    • Look for CapCut. See if it's listed as "Canceled" or "Expired."

    • Check your purchase history to confirm the £10.99 payments.

  • For Android (Google Play Store):

    • Open the Google Play Store app.

    • Tap your profile icon (top right).

    • Tap "Payments & subscriptions" > "Subscriptions."

    • Look for CapCut. See if it's listed as "Canceled" or "Expired."

    • Check your payment methods to ensure they are up to date.

  • Sometimes, issues can be resolved or clarified directly through the app store's subscription management. If it was an automatic renewal failure, you might see a clear reason there.

3. Contact CapCut customer support:

Since your plan was at £10.99 and is now asking for £21.99, you should:

  • Open the CapCut app → Tap Profile → Help Center or Feedback.

  • Choose Subscription/Payment Issue.

  • Or write an email to them directly at [email protected]
  • When contacting CapCut support, provide:

    • Your CapCut user ID/account details.

    • Screenshots of the "Plans and billing" page showing the canceled subscription and the non-working restore button.

    • Details about your original £10.99 subscription (e.g., when you subscribed, any transaction IDs from your bank/app store).

    • Clearly state that you did not cancel the subscription and that the price has doubled.

    • Ask if they can reinstate your previous plan or offer you a similar deal.

Attach a screenshot like the one you sent us.

4. Check for region mismatch:

If you’re using a VPN or have changed app store regions, that may have triggered a new price bracket. Ensure your Google Play/App Store region and CapCut region are set to the UK.

Your primary action should be to check your App Store/Google Play subscriptions, identify why the original plan lapsed, and then contact CapCut support with all the details. Be prepared that you may have to subscribe at the new price if you wish to continue with CapCut Pro.
