Enhance video keeps stalling - I've taken every known step and even switched PCs and am still running into it.
Hi,
This issue should not happen especially after a week, changing PCs, and already trying the obvious fixes.
Let us go beyond the usual checklist and focus on why CapCut’s Enhance Video specifically stalls and what you can try further to fix this.
We hope you are talking about Enhance / Super Resolution / Denoise / Sharpen / HDR-type AI enhancement inside CapCut (desktop).
Why “Enhance Video” stalls even on good systems
This feature is server-assisted + GPU-dependent. When it stalls, it’s usually not your project — it’s one of these bottlenecks:
-
CapCut AI queue/server throttling
-
GPU compute incompatibility (not performance)
-
Corrupt enhancement cache
-
Codec edge cases (especially screen recordings & phone HDR)
-
Account-side processing lock
Switching PCs rules out hardware failure which is a good move.
High-impact fixes which you need to try (in order)
1. Force CapCut to rebuild the AI pipeline
Simply reinstalling is not enough.
Do this exactly:
-
Uninstall CapCut
-
Reboot
-
Delete these folders manually:
-
Reboot again
-
Install the latest desktop version only from CapCut’s site or you can use the same version from our website (do not use Microsoft Store version)
Why this works: Enhance Video uses cached AI models that often corrupt silently.
2. Test Enhance on a known-safe clip
Before touching your real project:
-
Create a new blank project
-
Import a 10–15 second MP4
-
1080p
-
H.264
-
SDR (not HDR)
-
-
Apply only one Enhance option
-
Export
If this stalls → account or server-side issue, not your footage.
3. Disable GPU only for Enhance (counterintuitive but effective)
CapCut’s AI sometimes fails on certain GPU drivers.
Steps
-
Settings → Performance
-
Turn OFF Hardware Acceleration
-
Restart CapCut
-
Try Enhance again
Many users on our forum have found that Enhance finishes only in CPU mode.
4. Kill background AI contention (Windows-specific)
Enhance will stall if something else is reserving AI/GPU compute.
Check and temporarily disable:
-
NVIDIA Broadcast
-
RTX Voice
-
OBS (even if idle)
-
Browser tabs with WebGPU / WebGL (YouTube, Figma, etc.)
Then retry Enhance.
5. Convert your source clip before importing
Enhance chokes on:
-
Variable frame rate (phone & screen recordings)
-
HEVC + HDR combos
-
ProRes from iPhones
Fix
Re-encode your footage to:
-
MP4
-
H.264
-
Constant frame rate
-
SDR
(HandBrake preset: General → HQ 1080p30 works perfectly)
6. Try Enhance at export, not on the timeline
Timeline Enhance is more fragile.
Workflow
-
Remove Enhance from clip
-
Export
-
Enable Enhance Video during export
-
Run one enhancement at a time
7. Check if your account is soft-locked
CapCut silently limits Enhance usage when:
-
You hit daily AI limits
-
You switch devices repeatedly
-
Their servers are degraded
Test
-
Log in with a different CapCut account
-
Run Enhance on the same clip
If it works → your main account is throttled.
Known issue quietly acknowledged
CapCut has ongoing instability with:
-
Enhance + clips longer than ~2 minutes
-
Enhance + 4K timelines
-
Enhance + mixed FPS projects
Splitting clips before enhancing generally works.
If nothing works (realistic options)
If Enhance still stalls after all of this:
-
CapCut’s Enhance servers are likely unstable in your region
-
There is no local fix
Reliable alternatives
-
Topaz Video AI (offline, GPU-based)
-
DaVinci Resolve Studio (Neural Engine)
-
Run enhancement before CapCut and then re-import, not inside it
We can narrow this down fast if you want
Can you post as a reply to this thread with the following:
-
GPU model
-
Exact Enhance option(s) used
-
Clip source (phone, camera, screen record)
-
Whether it stalls at a % or freezes instantly
We can pinpoint the exact failure mode instead of guessing.
