I am a Pro user and I have not been able to use CapCut since yesterday. The preview bar doesn't scroll when I play the video in CapCut, which makes editting impossible. The same regards all of my three Android devices (Samsung Galaxy). I've tried clearing memory, reinstalling itd. Nothing helps. I'm trying to find some info if anybody else experiences this as well and there is any hope they will fix it?
Hi,
Since you are a CapCut Pro user and the issue is affecting all three Android Samsung Galaxy devices, it's highly likely this is a CapCut-side bug, especially if the preview timeline bar freezes but the video continues playing.
Known issue: timeline/preview bar freezing in CapCut (2025)
You are not alone — many users have reported this exact issue since recent updates, particularly with:
-
CapCut version 6.6.0 or newer
-
Samsung Galaxy devices (especially those with Android 13/14)
-
CapCut Pro accounts syncing across devices
Steps You've Already Tried (and are correct):
-
Reinstalled the app
-
Cleared cache and memory
-
Tried on multiple devices
Advanced fixes to try:
1. Turn Off Hardware Acceleration
CapCut includes this under Settings > Performance
. If it's ON, turn it OFF and restart the app.
2. Try Downgrading CapCut (Temporary Fix)
Since it's a recent issue, older versions don’t seem affected.
-
Use a trusted APK source like Uptodown to install an older version (e.g., 6.5.0 or 6.4.0).
-
Uninstall the current version first, then install the older APK.
-
Be sure to back up drafts (you can export them as
.capcutproj
files).
3. Disable “Sync Across Devices” in CapCut Settings
Go to:
-
CapCut > Me > Settings > Account Settings
-
Turn off anything related to syncing across devices or cloud auto-save.
This might reduce lag from cloud sync conflicts on Pro accounts.
4. Use CapCut Web or PC as Temporary Workaround
Until the mobile app is patched:
-
Visit: https://www.capcut.com
-
Sign in with the same CapCut Pro account.
-
Most editing features work there with good performance.
5. Check for Android System Updates
Sometimes app issues can be tied to underlying operating system bugs or compatibility problems.
-
Go to your device's "Settings."
-
Scroll down and tap on "Software update" or "System updates."
-
Check for and install any available updates.
6. Check Device Storage (beyond just clearing app memory):
While you mentioned clearing memory, sometimes low overall device storage can cause performance issues for apps.
-
Go to "Settings" -> "Battery and device care" (or similar, depending on your Samsung model) -> "Storage."
-
See how much free space you have. If it's very low (e.g., less than 10-15% free), try to free up more space by deleting old photos, videos, or unused apps.
7. Try a Different Video Project/Format:
It's a long shot, but sometimes a corrupt video file or a specific video format can cause issues.
-
Try creating a new, very simple project in CapCut with just one short video clip (maybe even a test video recorded directly on your phone). See if the preview bar works then.
-
If you're importing videos from other sources, try converting them to a common format like MP4 before importing into CapCut to rule out format incompatibility.
Report to CapCut Support
Especially since it's affecting multiple devices and common fixes aren't working. As a "Pro user," you will have access to more direct dedicated support.
-
Open CapCut > Me > Feedback
- Send an email to [email protected]
-
Describe: “Timeline/preview bar freezes while video plays, affecting all Samsung Galaxy devices after latest update.”
-
- When you contact Support, provide as much detail as possible:
-
Your device models (e.g., Samsung Galaxy S23, A54, etc.)
-
Your Android OS version.
-
The CapCut app version.
-
A clear description of the issue (preview bar not scrolling, making editing impossible).
-
Steps you've already taken (clearing cache/data, reinstalling, checking for updates).
-
Mention that you are a Pro user.
-
Attach screenshots/screen recording if possible.
You can also check CapCut's official Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok pages for announcements regarding this issue.
Consider a Temporary Workaround (if urgent): If you have urgent editing needs and CapCut remains unusable, you might have to consider a temporary alternative video editing app for Android until CapCut resolves the issue.
Given that it's happening across all three of your Samsung Galaxy devices, it strongly suggests either a widespread bug with a recent CapCut update that affects Samsung devices, or a very specific interaction between a recent Android update on your devices and the CapCut app. Reporting it to CapCut support is the most effective way to get a resolution.
We will keep an eye out and notify you once CapCut rolls out a fix or posts an announcement.
Also, let us know if you want help installing the older version safely or backing up your projects.
