I have encountered an issue with CapCut Pro editing with captions. The setting for the caption is visible, but it has a problem showing on the video. Please advise what to do next as it's urgent.

Hi,

This is a common issue with CapCut, and there are several reasons why it might be happening. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to get your captions visible again.

If your CapCut Pro captions are not showing on the video, even though the caption track is visible, here are several urgent troubleshooting steps you can take:

Common Reasons for Hidden Captions and How to Fix Them:

  1. Caption Layer Visibility/Opacity:

    • Check the Timeline: Go to your editing timeline in CapCut and locate the caption or auto-caption track.

    • Ensure the caption layer is not hidden. Click on the caption track in the timeline and make sure the “eye” icon (visibility toggle) is enabled.
    • Verify Settings: Make sure the caption layer isn't hidden, muted, or set to 0% opacity. Sometimes these settings can be accidentally changed.

  2. Check Timeline Position

    • Scrub through the timeline to verify that you're on a part where captions actually exist.

    • Captions might be outside the visible portion of the timeline or added too early/late.

  3. Layer Order Issue

    • CapCut layers work from top to bottom. Make sure no image, overlay, or video layer is covering the captions.
    • Move the caption layer to the top if necessary.
  4. Text Box Position or Size:

    • Off-screen: The caption box might have accidentally been dragged outside the video frame. Drag it back into the visible area.

    • Too Small: The text might be too small to be seen. Increase the text size to ensure it's visible during playback.

  5. Caption Style: Opacity & Color

    • Open the caption settings.
    • Make sure:
      • Opacity is set to 100%
      • Text color is not the same as the background
      • Font size is appropriate and not too small
      • Outline and shadow are visible if the background is busy
  6. Font and Text Settings:

    • Unsupported Font: You might be using a font that isn't supported by CapCut or your device, causing it not to render. Try switching to widely supported fonts like Arial, Roboto, or your device's default system font.

    • Color Blending: The caption color might be blending into the background of your video, making it invisible. Choose a color that provides good contrast.

    • Effects/Animations: Check if any fade-out or zoom effects are hiding the text during playback.

  7. Try Generating Captions Again:
    • If using Auto Captions:
      • Delete the caption layer
      • Regenerate using:
      • Text > Auto Captions > Choose Language > Generate
  8. Auto-Caption Specific Issues:

    • Audio Clarity: If you used auto-captions, they might not have generated correctly if the audio was too soft, distorted, or if CapCut couldn't detect speech clearly.

      • Solution: Try increasing the volume of your audio or removing background noise before regenerating auto-captions. You might also try deleting the problematic auto-caption layer and generating it again.

    • Language Settings: Ensure the language chosen for auto-captions matches the language spoken in your video.

    • Processing Issues: Sometimes auto-caption generation can get stuck (e.g., at 45%). This can be due to network issues. Some users report that using a VPN can help with this.

  9. App Glitches/Cache Issues:

    • Restart CapCut: A simple restart of the CapCut application can often resolve minor glitches.

    • Clear Cache (Mobile):

      • Android: Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > CapCut > Storage, then tap "Clear Cache."

      • iOS: Go to Settings > iPhone Storage > CapCut, then select "Offload App." This clears the cache without deleting your documents and data. You can then reinstall the app.

    • Reinstall CapCut: If clearing the cache doesn't work, consider uninstalling and reinstalling CapCut. IMPORTANT: Make sure you have backed up your projects or exported them before doing this, as it may delete local project data.

      • Your Pro membership is linked to your account—so log in first, then uninstall and reinstall CapCut.
      • You will not lose projects saved in the cloud, but local projects may be lost—back them up first.
    • Close and reopen the project.

      • If that doesn’t help:

        • Export the video (even with captions not visible)—see if they appear in the exported version.

        • If captions do appear after export, it’s a preview bug. You can continue editing, knowing they will show in the final output.

  10. Outdated App Version:

    • Ensure your CapCut app is updated to the latest version from your device's app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store). Outdated versions can have bugs that have been resolved in newer updates.

If the Problem Persists (Advanced/Last Resort):

  • Export Captions Separately: As a workaround, some users export the caption layer as a transparent video file and then overlay it on their final edit. This is more of a temporary solution but can work in a pinch.

  • Try on Another Device: If possible, try opening your CapCut project on a different device (e.g., another phone, tablet, or CapCut Desktop if you use it on PC). If the captions appear there, the issue might be specific to your original device.

  • Contact CapCut Customer Support: If you've tried all the above and still can't resolve the issue, it's best to contact CapCut's official support. The support email is [email protected].

Since it's urgent, start with the quickest checks:

  1. Check timeline visibility/opacity.

  2. Reposition/resize the caption text box.

  3. Try a different, standard font.

  4. Restart the CapCut app.

If you are still stuck, you can upload a screenshot of your timeline or the project layout and we will help you pinpoint the exact issue.
