Hello,I have not been able to use the aiclipper option on CapCut at all. Every time I attempt to use it, the project crashes and goes back to the CapCut home screen. I am really not sure what to do about this. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
When you are trying to use one of CapCut’s newer AI features like AI Clipper and it keeps crashing back to the home screen. Let us go step by step to troubleshoot and fix this issue depending on what device and version you are using
First, please confirm:
-
Are you using CapCut on PC (Windows/Mac), mobile (Android/iPhone), or CapCut Web?
-
Which version of CapCut is currently installed?
(You can check this in Settings → About CapCut.)
General fixes that usually solve AI clipper crashes
1. Update CapCut
-
CapCut’s AI features (like AI Clipper, AI Video, Auto Edit, etc.) are cloud-based and require the latest app version.
-
Go to:
-
Windows/Mac → Open CapCut → click your profile → “Check for updates.”
-
Mobile → App Store / Google Play → search “CapCut” → “Update.”
-
-
After updating, restart your device and reopen CapCut.
2. Clear AI Cache Files
AI Clipper temporarily stores large media and model data. Corrupted cache can cause crashes.
-
On PC:
-
Go to
C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\CapCut\User Data\Cache
-
Delete the
AI
orAIClipping
folders (if visible). -
Reopen CapCut and log in again.
-
-
On Mobile:
-
Go to your phone’s Settings → Apps → CapCut → Storage → Clear Cache (don’t clear data yet).
-
Reopen CapCut.
-
3. Disable GPU Acceleration (PC only)
If your graphics driver doesn’t fully support the AI engine, it can crash CapCut.
-
Go to Settings → Performance → Disable hardware acceleration (GPU).
-
Restart CapCut and retry the AI Clipper tool.
4. Check Internet Connection
AI Clipper relies heavily on CapCut’s servers.
Make sure:
-
You’re on a stable, high-speed Wi-Fi or LAN connection.
-
VPNs or firewalls aren’t blocking CapCut.
Try toggling your connection (Wi-Fi <-> mobile hotspot) to test if it’s a network issue.
5. Log Out and Back In
Sometimes your AI access token expires:
-
Go to Profile → Log Out, then sign back in with the same account.
-
Retry the AI Clipper feature.
6. Reinstall CapCut
If none of the above works:
-
Back up your current projects (export or sync to cloud if available).
-
Uninstall CapCut fully.
-
Download it again from here and reinstall.
Then reopen AI Clipper.
7. Known Bug as of October 2025
There’s currently a reported stability issue with AI Clipper crashing on:
-
CapCut PC v3.3.0 and 3.4.0
-
CapCut mobile (some Android builds)
There are user reports that this crash when the project has:
-
Multiple clips longer than 60 seconds
-
Certain transitions or filters applied before using AI Clipper
Temporary fix: Try running AI Clipper on a new, empty project with only one short clip (10–15 sec) and no filters.
If it works there, the issue is with project complexity or cache.
Below is a step-by-step fix specifically for CapCut Desktop (Windows), since AI Clipper crashing to the home screen is a known bug on recent PC versions.
Step-by-Step Fix for AI Clipper Crashing on CapCut PC
1. Check Your Version
-
Open CapCut → click your profile icon (top right) → Settings → About.
-
If you’re on v3.3.0 or v3.4.0, those are known to cause AI Clipper crashes.
Go ahead and update or roll back:-
Update: https://www.capcut.com → download the newest desktop build.
-
If already on the newest version and it still crashes: uninstall it fully and install v3.2.1 (a stable build—available on CapCut’s official archive or request one from the support team).
-
2. Clear AI Cache & Temp Files
Corrupted cache is the most common reason for AI Clipper crash.
How to clear it:
-
Close CapCut completely.
-
Open File Explorer and paste this in the address bar:
-
Go one folder up to Local → CapCut → User Data → Cache
-
Delete everything inside the
AI
orAIClipping
subfolders. -
Also clear any temporary render cache:
-
Reopen CapCut.
3. Disable GPU Acceleration
If your graphics driver isn’t fully compatible with CapCut’s AI backend, the program crashes right when the AI model loads.
To disable GPU acceleration:
-
Open CapCut → Settings → Performance
-
Turn off “Use hardware (GPU) acceleration”
-
Restart CapCut → try AI Clipper again.
4. Test in a Clean Project
Create a new project with only:
-
one short video clip (under 20 seconds)
-
no filters or transitions applied
Then launch AI Clipper.
If it works here, the crash is caused by your original project being too heavy or conflicting with another effect. You can export your long clip, then reimport it as a single file and apply AI Clipper to that.
5. Log Out and Back In
If your CapCut session token expired, AI Clipping will silently fail.
-
Go to your Profile → Log Out, then log back in using the same CapCut ID.
-
Retry the feature.
6. Reinstall (Clean Rebuild)
If nothing works:
-
Backup projects → open
Documents\CapCut\Projects
→ copy to a safe folder. -
Uninstall CapCut completely.
-
Delete these folders manually:
-
Reinstall the latest version from the official site.
7. Temporary Workaround
As of October 2025, some of our community members have reported that:
- AI Clipper works fine when launched before adding other effects
or when CapCut runs as Administrator.
Try:
-
Right-click the CapCut shortcut → Run as administrator
-
Then open a fresh project → AI Clipper → import your clip afterward
8. Optional: Send Crash Logs to Support
If it still crashes:
-
Go to
C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\CapCut\log
-
Look for the most recent
CapCut.log
file -
Send it via CapCut → Help Center → Feedback → Attach Logs
- Alternateively send a mail to the support team
That helps them patch your issue faster.
