The font I downloaded to my PC stopped working with Cyrillic symbols . It's DrukWide. I restarted the program and my device, uninstalled and reinstalled the font on my PC, and updated the program to the latest version. Nothing helped. I've never had problems with this font for Cyrillic before. Could you please tell me how to fix this?
Hi,
This is a known issue that has been affecting Druk / DrukWide users recently and in most cases it’s not your fault and not a broken font file.
Below are the real causes and working fixes, starting with the most likely one.
Why this suddenly happened even though it worked before
CapCut changed how it handles fonts
Recent updates of CapCut altered how custom fonts are rendered.
As a result:
-
Fonts that contain Cyrillic but aren’t declared correctly in their OpenType tables may now:
-
Show Latin correctly
-
Break or disappear for Cyrillic
-
Render Cyrillic as boxes or wrong glyphs
-
DrukWide is especially affected because it’s a commercial Latin-first font.
What actually works tested fixes
Fix 1: Install Druk Wide with full Cyrillic support
Many Druk files floating online do NOT include proper Cyrillic shaping, even if it worked before.
What to check
-
Open the font in Windows Font Viewer
-
Scroll to Cyrillic (АБВ…)
-
If characters:
-
Look mismatched
-
Don’t align
-
Or aren’t shown → the font file is incomplete
-
Solution
-
Reinstall the official Druk Wide Cyrillic version
-
Avoid “DrukWide-Regular.ttf” files from free sites — most are Latin-only
Fix 2: Convert the font to OpenType (very effective)
CapCut prefers .OTF over .TTF after recent updates.
How
-
Use FontForge (free)
-
Open the font
-
File → Generate Fonts -
Save as OpenType (.otf)
-
Reinstall the new file
-
Restart CapCut
This fixes Cyrillic rendering for many users.
Fix 3: Disable CapCut’s text engine cache
CapCut keeps a broken cached version of a font.
Steps
-
Close CapCut
-
Go to:
-
Delete folders:
-
FontCache -
Text
-
-
Restart CapCut
Fix 4: Use System Fonts, not “Upload Font”
CapCut treats fonts differently depending on how they’re loaded.
- Install DrukWide system-wide (right-click → Install for all users)
- Don’t upload it inside CapCut
Restart CapCut after installing.
If it still doesn’t work
Temporary workarounds
-
Use Druk Cyr, Druk Text Cyr, or Druk Condensed Cyr
-
Or:
-
Type text in Illustrator / Photoshop
-
Convert to outlines
-
Import as PNG/SVG into CapCut
-
Short summary
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| CapCut update | Clear cache + reinstall |
| TTF rendering bug | Convert to OTF |
| Incomplete font | Get official Cyrillic version |
| Font cache | Delete CapCut cache |
