Hi,

The error message "couldn't apply ai image/video try again later" usually points towards a few potential causes, often related to the connection between your app and CapCut's AI servers.

Since it was working perfectly just three days ago and isn't now, here's a breakdown of possibilities and troubleshooting steps:

  1. Temporary Server Issues (Most Likely):

    • Overload: The AI servers might be experiencing high traffic, causing requests to time out or fail. This is common with popular AI features.
    • Maintenance/Update: CapCut might be performing maintenance or updating their AI models/servers on the backend. This can temporarily disable the feature.
    • Regional Outage: There might be a temporary issue specifically with the servers handling requests from your region.
  2. App-Related Issues:

    • Outdated App: Make sure you have the latest version of the CapCut app installed. An older version might have compatibility issues with recent server changes. Check your app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) for updates.
    • Cache: Sometimes, corrupted cache data within the app can cause features to malfunction. Try clearing the CapCut app's cache in your device's settings (Settings > Apps > CapCut > Storage > Clear Cache). Be careful not to clear data unless you have backed up your projects, as clearing data might remove drafts.

    • Bug: A recent CapCut update might have introduced a bug affecting the AI features.
  3. Connectivity Issues:

    • Weak Internet: AI generation requires a stable and reasonably fast internet connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see if one works better. Run a speed test to check your connection.
    • VPN/Firewall: If you are using a VPN or have specific firewall settings, they might be interfering with the connection to CapCut's servers. Try temporarily disabling them.

Troubleshooting Steps to Try:

  1. Wait and Retry: As the error message suggests, simply waiting for a while (an hour or even a few hours) and trying again can often resolve temporary server issues.
  2. Restart:
    • Close the CapCut app completely and reopen it.
    • Restart your phone or device.
  3. Check Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable connection. Try loading other online content.
  4. Insufficient Device Resources:
    • CapCut's AI features require adequate storage and memory.
    • Ensure your device has at least 1 GB of free storage and 2 GB of RAM. Close background apps and delete unnecessary files to free up resources.
  5. Check for App Updates: Go to your app store and see if there's an update available for CapCut.
  6. Regional Restrictions: Using a reliable VPN to connect through a region where CapCut is fully operational can help bypass these restrictions.
  7. Clear App Cache: (Use with caution regarding project data) Navigate to your device settings and clear CapCut's cache.
    • Android: Go to Settings > Apps > CapCut > Storage > Clear Cache.
    • iOS: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > CapCut > Offload App.
  8. Try Different Prompts/Images: Use a very simple text prompt (e.g., "blue sky") or a standard, simple image to see if the issue is related to complex inputs.
  9. CapCut's AI features rely on cloud servers. If these servers are undergoing maintenance or facing outages, you might encounter this error. Check CapCut's official social media channels or websites like DownDetector to see if others are reporting similar issues.

  10. Reinstall CapCut: (Last resort, back up projects first!) If nothing else works, uninstalling and reinstalling the app can sometimes fix persistent issues.

Given that it worked recently and the error message mentions trying again later, a temporary server-side problem is the most probable cause. Waiting and checking for widespread reports online are good first steps.
