Hi,

If the Reverse tool in CapCut isn't working, even with CapCut Pro, here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Basic check: is it a supported clip?

  • Reverse only works on video clips, not on images or text overlays.

  • If you’re trying to reverse a video with effects, filters, or transitions, remove those first, reverse the raw clip, and then reapply the effects.

2. Wait for Processing Time

  • Reversing takes time because CapCut needs to render the clip backward.

  • If your video is long or high resolution, it may appear as if it’s “not working” while it’s just processing in the background.

Keep an eye on the progress bar or loading icon after hitting "Reverse."

3. Clear Cache

Sometimes, a corrupt cache can cause tools like Reverse to fail.

On PC:

  • Open CapCut.

  • Go to Settings > Clear Cache.

  • Restart CapCut.

On iPhone/Android:

  • Open CapCut > Tap on your Profile > Tap the Settings gear.

  • Tap Clear Cache, then restart the app.

4. Try Shortening the Video

  • Try trimming the video to a shorter duration (e.g., 5–10 seconds) and see if reverse works.

  • If it does, then the issue might be with RAM or processing limitations.

5. Check Storage Space

CapCut needs enough free storage to render the reversed clip. Make sure your device (phone or PC) has at least 2–4 GB free space.

6. Reinstall CapCut (Without Losing Projects)

You've just bought Pro, so this step is safe as long as you're signed into your CapCut account.

  • Uninstall CapCut.

  • Reinstall it from the official store.

  • Sign back in with your CapCut/ByteDance account — your projects and Pro status should be restored.

7. Check Video Format

Some unusual formats (e.g., HEVC, or clips from drones/action cams) can bug out in reverse.

  • Try converting the video to MP4 (H.264) using a tool like Handbrake or an online converter.

  • Import the converted video and try reversing it again.

8. Test on Another Device or CapCut Web

If nothing works:

Other troubleshooting steps to try:

  • Re-import the Video Clip:

    • If the issue is with a specific clip, try deleting that clip from your project.
    • Then, re-import the same video clip and try applying the reverse effect again.
  • Try a Shorter/Simpler Clip:

    • As a test, try reversing a very short and simple video clip (e.g., 5-10 seconds with no other edits). If this works, it might indicate that your original video is too long or complex for the reverse function to handle smoothly.
  • Export and Re-import the Original Clip (as a workaround):

    • If you're having trouble with a specific clip within a larger project, try exporting only that clip as a separate video without any effects.
    • Then, create a new project in CapCut, import the newly exported (un-reversed) clip, and try applying the reverse effect to it there.
    • Once reversed, you can then export the reversed clip and re-import it into your main project. This often solves the issue.
  • Check Device Storage:

    • Ensure you have enough free storage space on your device. Reversing videos can be resource-intensive.
  • Contact CapCut customer support:

    • Since you paid for Pro, you should have access to their customer support. Reach out to them by writing an email to [email protected].
    • Provide details about your device, CapCut version, and the specific problem you're encountering. They might be able to offer more targeted solutions or acknowledge a known bug.

If It’s Still Not Working:

Would you mind telling us:

  1. Are you using CapCut on PC, iPhone, or Android?

  2. What exactly happens when you press “Reverse”? (e.g., does nothing happen, or does it crash?)

  3. Can you reverse a very short clip (5–10 seconds) successfully?

By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with the CapCut reverse tool.
