I have tried a lot of things, from downgrading Capcut, to using a vpn, and my ui still looks really weird and different from others, instead of having tabs at the bottom, I have only a profile icon at the top left, and clicking it, im not given an option to change my profile picture
Hi,
It appears you are encountering a variation in the CapCut user interface, where the familiar bottom navigation bar is absent and the profile icon is located in the top left corner. This is a known phenomenon and has been reported by other CapCut users. It is due to A/B testing by the developers, regional rollouts of new designs, or updates that are gradually being implemented across the user base. This means that not all users will see the exact same interface at any given time.
CapCut (especially on mobile) has been testing different UI layouts and features based on region, account type (guest vs logged in), or even A/B testing groups.
While the standard method for changing your profile picture in CapCut typically involves navigating to a "Me" or "Profile" tab at the bottom right of the screen, this is clearly not an option in the UI you're experiencing.
Here's what might be happening and how you can try to locate the profile picture change option in your version of the app:
- A/B Testing or Gradual Rollout: CapCut uses A/B testing to experiment with new features and designs before a full release. You might be part of a group testing this different UI layout.
- Regional Variations: CapCut interfaces and features can sometimes vary depending on your geographical location.
- App Version: Although you mentioned trying to downgrade, the specific version you have installed might still be part of a rollout with this alternate UI.
- Account not fully logged in: If you're using CapCut without logging in (or logged in via TikTok only), some features like profile editing, cloud sync, or social features may be restricted or hidden.
- Region-based limitations: CapCut sometimes delivers different UI/UX depending on your country. This includes removing or relocating features like the profile picture or main tabs.
- App version mismatch isn't always the fix: Downgrading versions rarely reverts UI changes anymore, as the UI is often controlled server-side, not just by the app version.
UI Comparison
- Standard UI:
-
Tabs at the Bottom: Home, Edit, Templates, and Profile.
-
Profile Picture: Accessible and editable via the Profile tab.
-
- Your Described UI:
-
Profile Icon at Top Left: No bottom tabs.
-
Limited Options: Unable to change profile picture.
-
What You Can Try:
- Fully log in with a CapCut account (not just TikTok)
- Tap the profile icon in the top left.
- Choose “Log in” and select Email, Apple ID, Google, or Phone number.
- Avoid TikTok-only logins, as those accounts sometimes have restricted editing options.
- Use a different account
- Try logging in with another CapCut account or create a new one.
- Sometimes the UI changes when switching accounts.
- Check for profile picture editing on the website
- Visit the CapCut website and log in with the same account.
- Sometimes profile editing (like changing the picture) is allowed only via the web.
- VPN to the U.S. or another region + new account
- Connect to a U.S. or Singapore VPN, then create a new account inside CapCut.
- You have a chance of getting the "standard" UI this way.
- Important: Use an email-based account rather than TikTok when signing up.
Troubleshooting Steps to Find Profile Settings:
Given that the profile icon is in the top left, the account settings, including the option to change your profile picture, are most likely accessed through there. Since clicking it doesn't immediately present a "change profile picture" option, explore the following possibilities after tapping the top-left icon:
- Look for a Settings or three-dot/hamburger menu: Once you tap your profile icon, look for a gear icon (commonly used for settings), three horizontal lines (a hamburger menu), or three vertical dots (a more options menu) within the screen that appears. These icons often lead to further account options.
- Explore different tabs or sections: The different UI might organize your profile information into various sections or tabs within the profile view. Tap on anyラベル or icons that seem related to account management or personal information.
- Look for an "Edit Profile" or "Account Settings" option: Within the menus or sections that appear after tapping your profile icon, specifically look for text that says "Edit Profile," "Account Settings," "Manage Account," or similar.
- Tap on your current profile picture (if visible): Even if the initial tap on the icon didn't work, sometimes tapping directly on the displayed profile picture within the subsequent screen can open an edit option.
General Troubleshooting:
- Ensure a stable internet connection: Sometimes, UI elements or features might not load correctly with a poor connection.
- Clear CapCut's cache: Clearing the app's cache can resolve temporary glitches that might be affecting the UI display. The method for this varies depending on your device's operating system (Android or iOS), but it's usually found in your phone's app settings.
- Update the app (again): While you tried downgrading, ensure you have the latest version installed. The different UI might be intentional in the newest update, and subsequent minor updates might refine it or address issues.
- Reinstall the app: You mentioned doing this, but sometimes a clean installation can resolve persistent UI problems. Make sure to back up any important projects beforehand if possible.
- Contact CapCut Support: If none of the above steps work, reach out to CapCut's customer support by writing an email to [email protected]. Explain the specific UI you are seeing and that you are unable to find the option to change your profile picture. Providing screenshots of your interface can be very helpful for them to understand the issue.
While there isn't a single guaranteed fix for this specific UI variation without direct knowledge of its design, by systematically exploring the menus accessible from the top-left profile icon and trying general troubleshooting steps, you increase your chances of finding the profile picture settings or resolving the UI inconsistency.
