Here are some common reasons why "match media to script" might be giving you an error in CapCut, along with potential solutions:

Script Issues:

  • CapCut might not recognize the format or structure of your script.
    • Make sure your script is plain text and properly structured (e.g., clear sentences, no excessive symbols).
    • Avoid using special characters, emojis, or non-supported languages.
  • Special Characters: The AI can get confused by special characters like :, ;, *, or unusual punctuation within your script.
    • Solution: Go through your script and remove any unnecessary special characters. Keep it clean and plain text as much as possible.
  • Inconsistent Paragraph Spacing/Formatting: Extra line breaks, inconsistent indents, or unusual spacing can throw off the AI's understanding of your script.
    • Solution: Ensure your script has consistent paragraph spacing. Avoid extra line breaks or irregular gaps between sentences/paragraphs. The AI reads exactly what's written, so proper formatting is key.
  • Script Length/Complexity: While CapCut is powerful, extremely long or complex scripts might occasionally lead to issues.
    • Solution: If your script is very long, try splitting it into smaller sections and generating videos for each section. Then, combine them in CapCut.
  • Empty Script or Missing Content: Make sure your script isn't empty or doesn't have large blank sections.
    • Solution: Double-check that your script is properly entered and has the content you intend.

Media Issues:

  • Unsupported File Formats: While CapCut supports a wide range of formats, very obscure or corrupted media files could cause problems.
    • Solution: Try converting your media files (videos, images) to common formats like MP4 for video, MP3 or WAV for audio and JPG/PNG for images before importing them into CapCut.
    • Re-encode the media if necessary.
  • Corrupted Media Files: If your media files are corrupted, CapCut might struggle to process them.
    • Solution: Check if the media files play correctly outside of CapCut. If not, you might need to re-download or recreate them.
  • "Media Lost" or Moved Files: If you've previously imported media into a CapCut project and then moved or deleted the original files on your computer, CapCut won't be able to find them.
    • Solution: Right-click on the "offline" or missing media in CapCut, select "Link to media," and point CapCut to the new location of your files.
  • Script and Media Length Mismatch
    • Issue: If the media files (like clips or images) are too short or too long relative to the script, CapCut may fail to match them properly.
    • Solution:
      • Try shortening or adjusting the script.
      • Ensure your script aligns roughly with the duration and number of clips.

CapCut Application/Software Issues:

  • Outdated CapCut Version: Bugs are common in software like CapCut, and an outdated version might have known issues with this feature.
    • Solution: Always make sure you're using the latest version of CapCut. Check for updates within the application (usually in the settings or "Menu" > "Check for updates").
  • Cache and Performance: A large cache can sometimes lead to performance issues or errors.
    • Solution: Clear CapCut's cache. In CapCut PC, go to "Menu" > "Settings" > "Performance" (or similar, look for cache options) and clear the cache. Then restart CapCut.
    • Go to Settings > Apps > CapCut > Storage > Clear Cache (Android)
    • Or offload & reinstall (iPhone).
  • Network/Internet Connection (for AI features): Since "match media to script" heavily relies on AI, a stable internet connection is often required for the AI processing.
    • Solution: Ensure you have a strong and stable internet connection. If you experience network errors, try restarting your router or switching to a more reliable network.
    • Avoid VPNs or restrictive networks that might block CapCut’s servers.
  • Hardware Acceleration/Performance Settings: Sometimes, specific hardware acceleration settings can interfere with certain features.
    • Solution (for CapCut PC): Go to "Menu" > "Settings" > "Performance" and try unchecking "Speed up hardware encoding" to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Software Glitches: Sometimes a simple restart is all that's needed.
    • Solution: Close CapCut completely and restart your computer. Then, reopen CapCut and try again.

CapCut Pro Feature:

  • Pro Features: While "match media to script" is a free feature, certain advanced options or specific AI voices/effects that you might be inadvertently using could be Pro features, leading to an export error if you don't have a Pro subscription.
    • Solution: Review your project for any "Pro" labeled effects, transitions, or AI voices. Remove them if you're not a Pro subscriber and try again. Sometimes CapCut doesn't clearly indicate which element is causing the Pro limitation until you try to export.

Try This Quick Fix Workflow:

  • Open a new project.

  • Add 3–5 short clips (MP4 format).

  • Use a short, clean script like:

"This is a test video. Each clip matches one sentence. CapCut will sync automatically."

  • Click "Match Media to Script in 1 Click".

  • Check if the error still appears.

General Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Simplify: Try generating a very short video with a simple script and only a few basic media clips to see if the feature works at all. This can help isolate the problem.
  2. Screenshot the Error: If you get a specific error message, take a screenshot. This message often contains clues that can help in finding a solution (e.g., "Network Error," "File not found," "Processing failed").

By systematically going through these potential causes and solutions, you should be able to identify and fix the error you're encountering with "match media to script" in CapCut.

If you have done all this and it still fails, let us know:

  • What device you are using (PC, Android, iPhone)?

  • The exact error message (screenshot if possible)?

  • CapCut version?
