Hi,
Many CapCut users have reported that the Lip Sync (or “AI lip sync”) feature has disappeared or is not showing up in certain PC builds, even Pro versions. Here are some possible reasons + how you might fix or workaround it.
Just let us know so that we can tailor exact steps for your OS (Windows / Mac).
-
The lip sync feature is mentioned on the CapCut’s “Lip Sync / AI Lip Sync Generator” page.
-
Sometimes CapCut features are tied to credits or a different licensing/region requirement. (E.g. not free by default or even for PRO members)
-
Some users have also pointed out that it showed up in older versions (e.g. v5.2.0 on desktop) but is missing (or greyed out) in newer ones.
Why has this happened?
Here are reasons why it may not be showing for you:
-
Region restriction — the feature isn’t available in all countries / regions.
-
Version differences / roll-out delay — even Pro doesn’t always mean all features are active immediately; CapCut sometimes rolls out features gradually.
-
Licensing / subscription or credit requirement — you might need certain subscription tiers (like PRO vs Standard version) or AI credits to unlock lip sync.
-
Build / release issue — the version you have (6.7.0) may have a bug, or the feature was removed temporarily. The latest release is version 7.0.0
-
UI navigation differences — feature may be hidden under a submenu, mask, or require certain media types (like your clip/photo must have audio, or must be certain kind of media) so it doesn’t appear unless prerequisites are met.
-
Cache or install corruption — possibly a bad install, or corrupted data causing the feature not to show.
What you can try now to fix this?
Here are steps you can try to make it appear / get it working:
Step | What to do |
---|---|
1. Check for updates / rollback |
Make sure your CapCut is fully updated. If you’re on 6.7.0 and it’s not showing, update to the newest version. Also, if possible, try installing a slightly older version (like v5.2.0) to see if it returns. |
2. Check region / account settings | Try switching region inside CapCut, or log in/out, or contact support to see if lip sync is available in your area. |
3. Check UI menus carefully |
The “Lip Sync” feature may appear under Video → Basic or under AI tools / Magic Tools rather than being clearly labelled “Lip Sync.” Sometimes it only appears when you select a photo or clip that meets certain criteria (face present, audio present, etc.). Also check if you need to select the clip first. |
4. Check media being used |
If you're using a video clip without any existing audio, or a photo, maybe it requires one or the other. Try adding an audio track first. If it’s a photo or image, ensure it's compatible with lip sync (i.e. face is visible, etc.). |
5. Clear cache / reinstall |
Uninstall CapCut, clear residual files, then reinstall fresh from official source. Sometimes features fail to load due to leftover old data. |
6. Contact CapCut support |
Since you have a Pro version, reach out to support and show CapCut support team your version, screenshot, and ask why lip sync is missing. They will clarify region or credit requirement. |
Let us know the region you are based in and we will help you to see if this feature is available in your country or not.
Hi,
Thanks for the added details. Since you are in Texas, Pro subscriber, tried reinstalling to v7.0.0, etc., here are some more advanced troubleshooting and observations. Then we will suggest some workarounds.
Additional observations from others
-
There are a lot of user reports that the Lip Sync feature has completely disappeared from the desktop (PC) version, not just Greyed-out, even for paying customers.
-
CapCut still shows the “AI Lip Sync Generator” feature available.
-
There are tutorial pages (like Simple Tutorial on Kling AI Lip Sync) showing how to use lip sync, especially with avatars or photos, on desktop.
-
But there’s also feedback that even though the feature is advertised, it is not accessible / visible in certain versions/builds. People in online forums speculate it was removed or stripped out in the recent PC builds.
If you wish to revert to an older version, below are the download links. Make sure you disable auto updates so that CapCut does not try to update your version automatically:
If you decide to try an older version, here are some safe-practices:
-
Backup your projects, settings, templates before downgrading, so you don’t lose work.
-
Uninstall current CapCut cleanly, and delete leftover folders (especially in
%AppData%
/ProgramData
/ local settings). -
Download any earlier version from the links provided above.
-
After install, check for all prerequisites: select a clip with a face + audio, make sure OS / GPU drivers are up to date.
-
Test immediately if lip sync is visible / functional (before doing a lot of editing).
More things you can try
Since you have done the basics, here are more “deep dive” possibilities:
-
Check Beta / Experimental Feature Settings
-
Some CapCut features are hidden under experimental, beta, or feature flag toggles. Look through the settings (in PC version) for something like Labs, Beta features, AI features, Experimental tools. If there is a toggle for “Beta / Experimental” tools, enable it.
-
-
Different account / different machine test
-
Try logging into another PC (if possible) with your account. See if “Lip Sync” appears there. If it does, then perhaps the issue is local to your current machine (drivers / permissions / software conflict).
-
Alternatively, try a brand-new user profile or test account on your current PC. Sometimes account/permissions/region-cache issues hide features.
-
-
Check Windows permissions, GPU / hardware compatibility
-
Some of the AI tools depend on GPU capabilities (e.g. CUDA / DirectX / hardware acceleration). If your GPU drivers are old, or if your graphics card doesn’t support certain features, maybe the UI doesn’t show them. Try updating graphics drivers fully (GPU & system).
-
Similarly check Windows version (e.g. 10 vs 11). Sometimes features require a minimum OS version or certain update patch. If you have OS updates pending, fully update.
-
-
Delete config / preferences files
-
Sometimes leftover config files from previous installs prevent new features loading. Uninstall completely, then manually find CapCut’s settings / appdata folders, delete them, then reinstall. That ensures no stale local files.
-
On Windows, check under
%AppData%
/%LocalAppData%
for CapCut folders and remove or rename them (after backing up any custom templates you need).
-
-
Windows Firewall / Antivirus / Security / Proxy
-
If your internet connection is behind some restrictive network or firewall or proxy, CapCut may fail to fetch remote assets / feature flags from their servers, thus disabling them. Try with a different network (home vs work / mobile hotspot) to see if it makes a difference.
-
-
Contact CapCut Support with logs / version info
-
Since you’re Pro, open a support ticket. Include your PC OS version, GPU model, CapCut exact version (v7.0.0), screenshot of UI where “Lip Sync” is missing, and a note you tried reinstall, cleared config. Ask whether “Lip Sync” is supposed to be in your build / region. Sometimes support can push an update or activate that feature remotely.
-
- Connect to a VPN in a different region
- As a last resort, use a VPN to connect to a different country and check if that enables the Lip Sync feature.
Possible reason: Removed / Temporarily Disabled
It’s possible CapCut has temporarily removed or disabled the feature in some desktop builds, even though it’s still advertised. Given that many users report the complete disappearance, this seems plausible. Sometimes business decisions or bug issues cause features to be pulled back until stable.
Workarounds / Alternatives
While waiting for a fix (if it’s a CapCut-side issue), here are alternatives you might try:
-
Use CapCut Web (browser version) to see if “Lip Sync” is available there. If so, do your lip sync step online and then import back to PC.
-
Use other AI lip sync tools (there are several) just for that specific feature, then bring the output into CapCut for further editing. (Some tools might offer photo → lip sync animation, avatars, etc.)
-
Record audio + manually align keyframes in CapCut if nothing else works. More tedious but workable in many situations.
