Hi,

I can't export Tiktok versions from videos using Capcut desktop version. At first the video was generating but without subtitles (in the 4:5 version there are subtitles), then I deleted cache, deleted the app and reinstalled - still not even generating this 9:16 version of the video.

I would appreciate any help.

Hi,

It is particularly odd that it first exported without subtitles and now won't export at all in the 9:16 format after troubleshooting. This suggests the issue might be complex, potentially involving the project, the CapCut installation, or how it handles rendering that specific aspect ratio with certain elements (like subtitles).

Let us try a systematic approach to diagnose and hopefully fix this:

  1. Double-Check Export Settings: Even though you've likely done this, carefully review the export settings specifically for the 9:16 ratio one more time.

    • Ensure the resolution (e.g., 1080x1920), frame rate (e.g., 30fps), and bitrate are set appropriately for TikTok.
    • Check the codec (usually H.264 is standard).
    • Ensure you have enough free disk space on the drive you're exporting to and the drive where CapCut's cache resides.
    • Ensure that your project's aspect ratio is set to 9:16 before exporting. To do this, select your video on the timeline, click the "Ratio" button beneath the preview panel, and choose 9:16 from the available options.
    • Subtitles may not appear correctly if they're positioned outside the visible area in the 9:16 format. After changing the aspect ratio, review the subtitle tracks to ensure they're within the frame and adjust their position if necessary.
  2. Test with a New, Simple Project:

    • Create a completely new project in CapCut Desktop.
    • Add just one short, simple video clip (nothing complex).
    • Add one basic subtitle using CapCut's text tool (no fancy effects yet).
    • Try exporting this simple project in the 9:16 aspect ratio.
    • Result:
      • If this works, it suggests the problem lies within your original, more complex project file (corruption, specific effects, complex subtitles, etc.).
      • If this simple project also fails to export in 9:16, the issue is more likely with the CapCut installation itself, system resources, or a bug related to 9:16 exporting on your machine.
  3. Isolate the Subtitle Problem (In Original Project):

    • Go back to your original project.
    • Temporarily disable or delete all subtitle tracks/text elements.
    • Try exporting the video without any subtitles in 9:16.
    • Result:
      • If it exports successfully without subtitles, then the subtitles (or how CapCut renders them in 9:16) are indeed the core issue.
      • If it still fails even without subtitles, the problem might be related to other effects, transitions, specific video clips used, or general project corruption.
  4. If Subtitles Are the Cause:

    • Simplify: If you used complex styles, animations, or fonts for your subtitles, try changing them to a very basic, default style and font. Then attempt the 9:16 export again.
    • Recreate: Try deleting the existing subtitles and recreating a small section of them from scratch directly within CapCut. See if exporting works with newly created, simple text.
    • Alternative Subtitle Method: Consider if the subtitles were imported (e.g., as an SRT file). If so, try creating them manually in CapCut instead, or vice-versa.
  5. Check System Resources & Drivers:

    • Monitor your computer's CPU, RAM, and GPU usage while attempting the export. Is anything maxing out?
    • Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause rendering issues. Visit the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) for the latest drivers.
  6. Run as Administrator: Right-click the CapCut desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator". Sometimes permission issues can interfere with file operations like exporting.

  7. Change Export Location: Try exporting the video to a different folder or even a different drive (e.g., an external drive or another internal partition) to rule out path or permission issues.

  8. Project Complexity: If your project is very long or uses many complex effects, 4K footage, etc., try exporting just a small section of the timeline in 9:16 to see if it completes.

  9. Check CapCut Version Again: Since you reinstalled, you likely have the latest version. But double-check if any very recent updates (patches/hotfixes) have been released since you reinstalled.

  10. Consider Reporting a Bug: If none of these steps work, especially if simple projects also fail to export in 9:16, it might be a bug specific to the current desktop version of CapCut on your system configuration. Write an email to [email protected] to report the issue, detailing your operating system, CapCut version, and the specific problem (failure to export 9:16, previous subtitle issue).

Start with steps 1-3 as they are most likely to pinpoint whether it's the project or the application/system. Good luck!

We hope these steps assist you in resolving the exporting issue. If you continue to experience problems, providing specific error messages or behaviors can help in diagnosing the issue more accurately.
