Hi everyone,
I recently purchased CapCut Pro, after using the basic version for a longer time, and have been trying to log in again using my TikTok account (I never registered with an email). However, I keep running into error messages like “Maximum Number of Attempts reached” or “Something went wrong” on my Windows PC, phone, and browser.
Because of this, I can’t access the service in any kind of way. I’ve already contacted CapCut support but haven’t received a response after a day, so I’m reaching out here for advice or help.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone know how to fix these login issues when using a TikTok account? Any guidance would be hugely appreciated as this is quite urgent for me.
Thanks in advance!
Johnathan
I’ve already tried clearing the cache, using a VPN, switching browsers, and reinstalling the app on all my devices, but unfortunately, none of these have resolved the issue. The error messages still appear when I try to log in with my TikTok account.
Hi,
Login lockouts like this can be challenging when you have already paid for Pro. Based on the specific errors you are seeing, this looks to be account-side restriction, not a device or network problem.
Because you are logging into CapCut using TikTok OAuth (not email/password), there are two systems involved. The errors you mention strongly suggest one of these scenarios:
TikTok has temporarily locked OAuth login
TikTok automatically rate-limits third-party logins if:
-
Too many login attempts occur in a short time
-
Logins come from multiple devices/locations
-
VPNs or IP changes were detected
When this happens:
-
TikTok login may still work inside TikTok
-
But TikTok → CapCut authorization fails
-
CapCut only sees “Something went wrong”
This typical cooldown: 24–72 hours
CapCut Pro is active, but your account is orphaned
This happens when:
-
You subscribed via TikTok login
-
The OAuth link between TikTok ↔ CapCut broke
-
You never created a CapCut email/password
Result:
-
Payment exists
-
Login fails everywhere
-
You are locked out completely
Only CapCut support can re-bind this.
Region / account mismatch which is very common
If:
-
Your TikTok account is tied to one region
-
CapCut app/browser resolves to another (even once)
CapCut may silently block the login without a useful error.
What you should do now
Step 1: Stop trying to log in for 24–48 hours
This is the most common fix for "Maximum attempts." The lockout is server-side, meaning if you keep trying, you are likely resetting the timer.
Do not:
-
Try new devices
-
Try VPNs
-
Try browsers
Just wait. CapCut's security system flags frequent failures as a "bot attack." Waiting allows the server-side flag to expire.
Step 2: Confirm TikTok account is healthy
Open TikTok directly and check:
-
You can log in normally
-
No security warnings
-
No “unusual activity” notices
-
You can access Settings → Security
If TikTok itself is restricted, CapCut login will never work.
Step 3: Contact CapCut with the right request
Most users don’t get responses because they send vague messages.
Send one clear follow-up message clearly describing your issue in simple words. Structure the message as an account recovery, not generic support. Clearly mention that you are PRO subsciber in order to emphasize priority support.
Step 4: Try logging in via TikTok → CapCut link
After the cooldown:
-
Open TikTok
-
Go to Profile → Settings → Account → Connected apps
-
If CapCut appears:
-
Remove it
-
Restart phone
-
Re-authorize CapCut once
-
Do not retry if it fails—wait again.
If the above steps fails to yield desired result then you can proceed with the below advanced steps:
Use the bridge strategy
Since your TikTok login is currently "toxic" to the server, you need a secondary way in.
-
On your Mobile Device (where you might still be logged in, or where it’s easiest to try first after the 24-hour wait), log in via TikTok.
-
Immediately go to Settings (gear icon) > Manage Account.
-
Link an Email or Google Account to that same profile.
-
Once linked, go to your Windows PC and log in using the Email/Google option instead of TikTok. This often bypasses the specific API error associated with TikTok logins.
Use the QR code bypass
If you can successfully log in on your phone after the 24-hour wait, do not type your credentials into the PC app.
-
On the CapCut PC login screen, select "Sign in with CapCut Mobile" (QR Code).
-
Open CapCut on your phone, go to your profile, tap the QR Scanner in the top corner, and scan the PC screen.
Verify your TikTok age settings
CapCut has recently tightened security regarding age. If your TikTok account doesn't have a verified birthdate or if it’s set under 18, the Pro login often fails with a vague "Something went wrong" error.
-
Check your TikTok App > Settings > Account > User Information to ensure your age is correct and meets the 18+ requirement for Pro billing.
From our experience:
-
~70% unlock automatically after 48 hours
-
~25% require CapCut support to rebind
-
~5% need TikTok security review (rare)
Since you have already waited a day, you are still in the normal window.
