Hi,
Based on the screenshot you provided, it looks like the "Lightness" setting under the "Color" adjustments is grayed out, while other settings like "Exposure" are still active. Let us try a few things to troubleshoot this before resorting to reinstallation:
-
Check Clip Type (HDR): Sometimes, certain adjustments are limited when working with HDR (High Dynamic Range) video clips. If the clip you're trying to adjust is HDR, CapCut might disable the "Lightness" slider.
- Workaround: Try using the "Exposure" slider instead, which is currently active in your screenshot (-6). Exposure affects the overall brightness of the image and might achieve the effect you need.
- Convert: If you need the specific "Lightness" control, you might need to convert the clip from HDR to SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) before importing it into CapCut, although this can affect video quality.
-
Remove Conflicting Effects/Filters: Occasionally, another applied effect or filter might conflict with the basic adjustments.
- Select the clip in question.
- Temporarily remove any other filters or effects you've applied to it.
- Check if the "Lightness" slider becomes active. If it does, one of the effects was causing the conflict.
- Try Adjusting in a Different Mode:
- If you are using CapCut in Performance mode, try switching to High-Quality mode or vice versa.
- Go to Settings > Performance > Adjust mode.
-
Test on Another Clip/Project:
- Try applying the brightness/lightness adjustment to a different clip within the same project.
- Try creating a new project and importing a simple, standard video clip (non-HDR) to see if the Lightness adjustment works there. This helps determine if the issue is with the specific clip, the project, or the app itself.
-
Restart and Update:
- Restart CapCut: Completely close the CapCut app (force close it from your device's recent apps menu) and reopen it.
- If you’re on Windows, right-click the CapCut icon and select Run as Administrator.
- Restart Device: Sometimes a simple device restart can clear temporary glitches.
- Check for Updates: Go to your app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) and ensure you have the latest version of CapCut installed. Updates often contain bug fixes.
Regarding Reinstallation Concerns:
- Losing Projects: CapCut projects are typically saved locally on your device. Reinstalling the app deletes these local projects unless you have cloud backup enabled (since you have Pro features – check your CapCut Cloud settings). Before reinstalling, you can manually back up project data or ensure cloud sync is active. On desktop versions, project files are saved in a specific folder you can back up manually.
-
Backup your projects:
-
Go to CapCut Settings > Project Backup and ensure your projects are backed up to the cloud.
-
- Losing Pro Membership: Your Pro membership is linked to the account you used to subscribe (Apple ID, Google Account, TikTok Account, etc.), not the app installation itself. If you reinstall CapCut, simply log back in with the same account, and your Pro subscription should be automatically recognized and restored.
If none of the troubleshooting steps work, try contacting CapCut technical support again. Write an email to [email protected] or use the contact form here.
This time, provide with specific details: your device model, operating system version, CapCut app version, mention that the "Lightness" slider is grayed out (while Exposure works), and list the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. Persistence and detailed information can sometimes help get a more specific response.
Hopefully, using the Exposure setting or one of the other troubleshooting steps will resolve the issue without needing to reinstall.
