Hi,

You can transfer projects between CapCut accounts and below we will show you the way to move your CapCut projects from a free (non-Pro) account to a different Pro account.
CapCut unfortunately does not provide a built-in “transfer projects between accounts” button, but you can move projects using the methods below depending on your device and project type.

Method 1: Transfer via Cloud Backup (best & easiest)

On your free account

  1. Open CapCut → go to Cloud Space or Cloud Backup.

  2. Select the projects you want.

  3. Tap Upload / Backup to Cloud.

On your Pro account

  1. Log out of CapCut and sign in to the new Pro account.

  2. Go to Cloud Space → download/import the saved projects.

  3. Important: If a project contains device-local media that wasn’t uploaded, CapCut may show missing files. Keep those files accessible on the same device.

Method 2: Export as .capcut project files

You can export a project file that another account can open on the same device.

On free account

  1. Open the project.

  2. Tap … (More) or Export project.

  3. Choose Export as .capcut file / Template file.

  4. Save it to your device storage.

On Pro account

  1. Switch accounts or log into your Pro account.

  2. Tap Import Project → choose the .capcut file.

  3. The full editable project will open under your new account.

Method 3: Use device storage (manual move)

If CapCut is installed on the same device:

Mobile

  1. Ensure both accounts are logged in on the same app at least once.

  2. Open each project while logged into the free account → CapCut caches project data locally.

  3. Log into your Pro account → the cached projects usually still appear under “Local Projects”.

PC (CapCut Desktop)

  1. Go to your CapCut project folder:
    Windows: C:\Users\<YourName>\CapCut\User Data\Projects

  2. Copy the project folder to another directory.

  3. Log in to Pro account → paste the folder back into the Projects folder.

  4. Restart CapCut → the projects should appear.

Things CapCut cannot transfer

Some items do not move between accounts, even if the project transfers:

  • Drafts that were never saved to cloud or exported

  • Media stored only on the old device

  • Paid Pro assets used under the free account (they will require re-license in the Pro account)

Below is the working method for transfer of projects from Free Account to New Pro Account for various device types.

IPHONE (iOS)

Method 1: Cloud Backup (Best Method)

On the free account:

  1. Open CapCut → tap Cloud (upper area or tab).

  2. Open each project you want to transfer.

  3. Tap Backup or Upload (depending on version).

  4. Wait until the project shows a cloud icon next to it.

On the Pro account:

  1. Log out → log into your Pro account.

  2. Open Cloud again.

  3. Select and Download each uploaded project.

Method 2: Export as .capcut Project File

This keeps the full editable project.

On free account:

  1. Open the project.

  2. Tap the … (more) menu or Export Project.

  3. Choose Export as project (.capcut file).

  4. Save to Files app, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop it to yourself.

On the Pro account:

  1. Log into the Pro account in CapCut.

  2. Tap New Project → Import Project.

  3. Choose the .capcut file from Files.

  4. Your project loads fully editable.

Method 3: Local Device Cache (Hidden Method)

CapCut for iOS stores project data locally.

  1. While logged into the free account, open each project once so CapCut caches media.

  2. Log into the Pro account.

  3. Go to Local Projects.

  4. Many drafts will still appear and open under the new account because the project files are device-based.

  5. This works for many users, but not guaranteed if CapCut version changes or cache is cleared.

ANDROID

Android works almost identically to iPhone, except file access is easier.

Method 1: Cloud Backup

Same steps as iPhone.

Free account:

Project → Cloud icon → Upload/Backup

Pro account:

Cloud → Download

Method 2: Export .capcut Project File

Free account:

  1. Open project.

  2. Menu → Export Project / Export as .capcut file.

  3. Save to Downloads, Google Drive, Files, or share it.

Pro account:

  1. Log into Pro account.

  2. Tap Import → select the .capcut file.

  3. Project loads normally.

Method 3: Move Android Files Manually (Advanced)

Android stores draft projects on the device.

  1. Open your file manager.

  2. Go to:

    Android/data/com.lemon.lvoverseas/files/Projects
  3. Copy the entire Projects folder somewhere safe.

  4. Log into the Pro account.

  5. Put the folders back into the same directory.

  6. Restart CapCut and your projects appear in Local.

CAPCUT DESKTOP (Windows & Mac)

Method 1: Export as .capcut Project File

On free account:

  1. Open CapCut Desktop.

  2. Right-click a project → Export project file OR open → File → Export Project.

  3. Save the .capcutproj file.

On Pro account:

  1. Log into Pro account.

  2. Click Import Project.

  3. Select the .capcutproj file.

Method 2: Move the Raw Project Folders (Most Reliable for Desktop)

Windows Project Location:

C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\CapCut\User Data\Projects

Mac Project Location:

~/Library/Application Support/CapCut/User Data/Projects

Steps:

  1. Copy the project folders while logged into your free account.

  2. Log out → log into your Pro account.

  3. Paste the project folders back into the same directory.

  4. Restart CapCut.

Your projects should appear exactly as before.

IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS ACROSS ALL DEVICES

These CANNOT transfer directly:

  • Licensed Pro assets used under old account (which require re-licensing)

  • Projects never opened or cached on the device

  • Deleted or missing media files

  • Cloud space tied to the old account

But the editable project itself can always be transferred via .capcut files or manual folder moves.
