To clear up some storage on my device, I deleted the CapCut app. However, after reinstalling it, I’ve lost access to all premium features, and unfortunately, all of my previous projects and data are missing.

I need help to restore my premium access and recover my data.

Hi,

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you restore both your CapCut Pro (premium) access and recover your lost projects/data after reinstalling the app:

Premium Access

The loss of premium features is related to your account not being logged in correctly, or a subscription not being recognized by the app after a fresh install.

  • Log in to your account: Make sure you are logged into the exact same CapCut account you used when you originally purchased the premium features. The premium subscription is tied to your account, not the app itself.

  • Restore purchases: If you were logged in and the premium features are still not active, look for a "Restore Purchases" option in the app's settings.

    • Open CapCut.
    • Tap “Settings” (gear icon, usually in top right).
    • Tap “Restore Purchase”.
    • Make sure you’re logged into the same Google/Apple ID you used to purchase the subscription.
    • Wait a few seconds — this should re-activate your Pro membership.
    • If “Restore Purchase” doesn’t appear, try going to Me/Profile > CapCut Pro > Already Subscribed? or check under CapCut Pro banner.

Recovering projects and data

Your projects are saved locally on your device unless you have a backup feature enabled. Deleting and reinstalling the app erases this local data.

  • You can recover them if:
    • You were logged into a CapCut account before deleting
      • Open CapCut.
      • Log in to the same CapCut account (Apple ID, Google account, TikTok, or phone number).
      • Go to Your Workspace > check for Cloud Projects or Archived Projects.
      • CapCut backs up some data only if you’ve enabled cloud sync or logged in before.
    • If you didn't log in and had no cloud backup
      • Sadly, your local projects were deleted when you removed the app. They’re not recoverable unless:
      • You backed up your device via iCloud/Google Drive.
      • You have access to a file recovery tool (advanced, rarely works unless your phone is rooted/jailbroken).
  • Check the in-app "Trash" or "Deleted" folder: CapCut has a trash folder where recently deleted projects are stored for a limited time (often 30 days). Check if your projects are there and can be restored.

  • Check CapCut's cloud storage ("Space"): If you had a CapCut account and had cloud backup or auto-upload enabled, your projects might be saved in "Space" (CapCut's cloud storage). You can find this by logging into your account and look for a "Cloud" or "Space" tab. If they're there, you can download them back to your device.

  • Local device folders: In some cases, project files might still exist in your device's storage.

    • On Android: You might be able to find a folder in your internal storage with a path Android > data > com.lemon.lvoverseas. Copying and pasting this data might help, but this is a very technical.

    • On a computer: The path is something like C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Local\CapCut\User Data\Projects.

  • Third-party data recovery software: If none of the above methods work, you can try using third-party data recovery software for your device. These tools can sometimes find and restore deleted files, but success is not guaranteed and depends on how much new data has been written to your device since you deleted the app.

Contact CapCut Support (If Pro still not restored)

If your premium features are still locked after trying “Restore Purchase,” you can:

Contact CapCut Support

  1. Email: [email protected]

  2. Provide:

    • The email or account ID used.

    • Purchase receipt (from App Store/Play Store).

    • Describe your issue clearly (e.g., "Reinstalled CapCut, lost Pro access and projects").

What to do moving forward:

To avoid this in the future, it is highly recommended to:

  • Always log into a CapCut account before uninstalling.
  • Use the cloud backup feature: Ensure you are logged into your CapCut account and have the cloud backup feature enabled so your projects are automatically saved online.

  • Export and save finished projects: Before deleting the app, always export and save your finished projects as video files to your device's gallery or a separate cloud storage service.

Let us know:

  • Did you originally log into CapCut, or were you using it as a guest?

  • Was the Pro version bought via Play Store, App Store, or CapCut website/Teams?

We can give more specific help if you share that info.
