Hi everyone, a few days ago I almost finished my video project. I created several shots using the Image-to-Video AI model built into CapCut. But now, after a couple of days, when I open the project, the shots that were always available suddenly won’t load anymore, and I’m getting the error shown in the screenshot.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

Hi,

This issue has been reported by our other users also and unfortunately it usually isn’t a mistake on your side and is known CapCut issue.

Why your Image-to-Video shots suddenly won’t load

AI effects are cloud-based and not saved locally

CapCut’s Image-to-Video AI does not fully render and store the result in your project file.

Instead:

  • The AI result is generated on CapCut’s servers

  • Your project keeps a reference to that cloud asset

If that cloud asset is removed or expires, the clip will no longer load.

This often happens after a few days.

CapCut removed or updated the AI model

CapCut frequently:

  • Retires AI effects

  • Updates models

  • Limits access to free users

If the exact AI model/version you used is no longer available, old clips can break.

This is very common with:

  • Image-to-Video

  • AI Motion

  • Experimental effects

Account / login mismatch

If you are:

  • Logged out

  • Logged in with a different account

  • Switched devices (desktop ↔ mobile)

CapCut may not be able to re-fetch the AI asset.

Region or license change

Some AI effects are:

  • Region-locked

  • Temporarily disabled

  • Moved behind CapCut Pro

If your region or plan status changed, the effect may stop loading.

What you should try in this order:

1. Make sure you’re logged into the same CapCut account

  • Check email/login method

  • Restart CapCut after logging in

2. Go online + wait

  • Make sure CapCut has internet access

  • Open the project and wait several minutes

  • Some AI clips re-download slowly

3. Update CapCut or try the previous version if possible

  • New versions sometimes restore compatibility

  • On desktop, reinstalling can help (projects are usually safe)

4. Duplicate the project

Sometimes the original project cache is corrupted.

  • Right-click project → Duplicate

  • Open the copy

If the AI model was removed from CapCut’s servers, then:

  • The shots cannot be recovered

  • Even CapCut support team cannot restore them

This is why many editors:

  • Export AI clips immediately after generation

  • Replace them with rendered video files

How to protect yourself next time

For any AI-generated clip in CapCut:

  1. Generate the AI clip

  2. Export it as a video

  3. Re-import the exported video

  4. Replace the AI effect clip in the timeline

That way, it’s permanent.

Can you answer these below questions

Are you using:

  • CapCut Desktop (Windows/Mac) or

  • CapCut Mobile, and

  • Free or CapCut Pro?

  • Can you share the screenshot of the error (it was mentioned in your post but there is no screenshot)

If you can provide these information we can help you debug further.
