Hi,
We will explain you what may be going on with your CapCut Pro subscription, why it didn’t auto-renew, why you don’t see it in Apple Subscriptions, and what options you actually have including whether you can get the old price back.
If you purchased via Apple App Store…
Even if you bought CapCut Pro inside the app on your iPhone, your subscription should be managed by Apple via your Apple ID — not directly by CapCut. That’s how Apple handles in-app purchases.
Common behavior in this case:
If the payment method on file failed or changed, Apple may not auto-renew the subscription even if it shows a future renewal date in some UI screens.
If you cancelled or it accidentally got cancelled on Apple’s side, the subscription will expire and not renew but Apple will still show the old expiration date or renewal info in some places.
This experience has been shared by users on the forum who saw subscriptions expire or not be recognized correctly in Apple’s system even when CapCut pro features stopped working.
If the subscription was purchased outside Apple (e.g., CapCut website / TikTok / Google Play)
CapCut offers subscriptions outside the App Store, and in that case:
The subscription won’t appear in your Apple Subscription list.
Renewal and billing are managed by CapCut/ByteDance directly, not Apple.
Apple doesn’t control that renewal and won’t auto-renew it on your Apple ID.
- That would explain why:
- You don’t see it in Apple Subscriptions
- The app claims “next renewal in Jan 2027” but it actually didn’t renew
- That displayed date can be a cached/planned date, not an actual payment schedule.
This kind of mismatch has been reported by Apple users where Apple shows no active CapCut subscription even though CapCut features were active.
Why it shows automatic renewal but didn’t actually renew?
This can happen because:
Apple shows a planned renewal date if it thinks the subscription is still active.
…but if:
The payment method on Apple wasn’t valid,
Or the subscription was actually managed outside Apple, then no real charge attempt was made so it failed to renew.
If you are seeing an expiration date instead of a real charge/renewal then it usually means the subscription is already cancelled or not active even if it looks like it might renew.
Why your old price is no longer available
CapCut updates pricing over time. Like many other apps, they don’t guarantee old prices forever. Because you no longer have an active subscription, the app will show current pricing, not the price you originally paid a year ago.
Most app subscriptions don’t let you “lock in old pricing” once the subscription expires even if you are a long-time user.
- Unfortunately:
- There’s usually no technical way to renew at the old price after expiration
- Developers aren’t obligated to honor old prices
- Currently, the only price available will be the new one.
What you can try right now
Double-check Apple subscriptions
Open iPhone Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions and ensure:
CapCut is listed under Expired subscriptions
You are signed into the correct Apple ID that purchased it
If it doesn’t appear, then it’s very likely your purchase was done outside Apple’s subscription system.
Try “Restore Purchases” in CapCut
In the CapCut app:
Go to Profile → Settings
Look for “Restore Purchases” (or similar)
Tap it — this forces the app to check with Apple or the CapCut backend about any valid subscription tied to you.
Many users who have reported on our forums have recovered the account in this way.
Contact billing support
Since this situation involves missing subscription associations:
Apple Support can check whether a subscription was ever billed or associated with your Apple ID.
CapCut Support can check their own backend to see if your account ever had a Pro subscription under a CapCut/ByteDance account.
Keep receipts, dates, and screenshots handy.
Refund / price adjustment options
Apple sometimes grants refunds or partial refunds if you ask, but it’s not guaranteed. You can request at reportaproblem.apple.com.
CapCut offers promos or discount options if you ask support especially for long-time users.
Getting to the core of the issue..
| Issue | Cause | What to do? |
|---|---|---|
| Did not auto-renew | Payment method, subscription outside Apple, or cancellation | Check Apple subscriptions & CapCut restore purchases |
| Not shown in Apple subscriptions | Possibly purchased outside Apple system | Ask Apple & CapCut support to trace payment |
| Price jumped | Subscription expired → new pricing | No built-in way to keep old price |
- Expired subscriptions usually lose old price benefits there is no built-in price lock.
- Missing subscriptions in Apple settings mean it was purchased outside Apple.
- Trying Restore Purchases option makes the subscription appear again in certain cases.
- Billing Support is your best chance now if the subscription truly existed and is lost.
