Hi, i have created a whole montage video on my local capcut computer account.
What i want to do is to try capcut pro, but i fear that because my account seems to not be a real account but just something that was created when i downloaded the desktop app i wouldnt be able to access my account from elsewhere, to for example cancel the pro subscription etc.
Can you tell me how this works and help me
Only info i have about the account is "Username" and "CapCut ID"
How can i login to this account when it doesnt have an email linked for example?
If i cant login to this account im guessing i wouldnt be able to cancel my pro if i start paying for it now, or can I cancel it using my username/capcut id if i contact support?
Can i export the project to another account somehow so i can start a pro license on a real account?
Please read carefully, lots of questions and thanks in advance
Hi,
This is a very common CapCut desktop situation, and your concerns are 100% valid. We will go step by step and answer each question clearly.
How CapCut desktop accounts actually work?
On desktop, CapCut lets you work in two very different modes:
1. Local / Guest account (what you currently have)
-
Created automatically when you install CapCut desktop
-
Identified only by:
-
Username
-
CapCut ID
-
-
No email
-
No password
-
Not accessible from other devices
-
Not manageable outside that specific computer
This is not a full account — it’s basically a local profile tied to your device.
2. Full CapCut account
-
Logged in via:
-
Email
-
TikTok
-
Google / Apple
-
-
Can log in anywhere
-
Subscription management available
-
Safer for Pro
“If I buy CapCut Pro on this local account, can I cancel it later?”
Short answer: Yes — but it’s risky and not recommended
Here’s why:
-
Subscriptions are managed through the platform you pay on, not the username
-
Windows → Microsoft Store
-
macOS → Apple App Store
-
-
Even if the CapCut account itself is “local,” the payment is tied to your OS account
What this means:
-
You can cancel Pro via:
-
Microsoft account (Windows)
-
Apple ID (macOS)
-
-
You will not be able to manage it via CapCut’s website
-
If you switch computers or reinstall Windows/macOS, access can break
Worst-case scenario:
If something goes wrong, CapCut support may not be able to verify ownership easily since there is no email attached.
“Can I log in to this account somewhere else using only Username / CapCut ID?”
No.
There is no login method using:
-
Username
-
CapCut ID alone
Those are identifiers, not credentials.
CapCut does not support:
-
Password reset for local accounts
-
Web login for local accounts
-
Converting a local account into a full account automatically
“If I contact support, can they cancel Pro using my CapCut ID?”
Maybe but not guaranteed.
Support might ask for:
-
CapCut ID
-
Username
-
Purchase receipt (VERY important)
-
Platform transaction ID (Microsoft / Apple)
If you don’t have the receipt or store account access, it can get messy.
BEST & SAFEST SOLUTION (strongly recommended)
Export your project and move to a real account BEFORE buying Pro
This avoids all the risks.
How to do it:
Option A — Manual project transfer (most reliable)
-
Open CapCut desktop (local account)
-
Open your project
-
Export the final video (this always works)
-
You will lose edit layers, but keep the video
-
Option B — Project folder copy (advanced, not guaranteed)
-
Locate CapCut project folder:
-
Windows (typical):
-
macOS:
-
-
Copy the entire project folder
-
Log into a real CapCut account
-
Paste the project folder into the same directory
This works sometimes, but CapCut does not officially support it. Expect occasional asset relinking issues.
Ideal workflow tailored for you
-
Do NOT buy Pro yet
-
Create / log into a real CapCut account (email, Google, TikTok, etc.)
-
Move or export your project
-
Confirm everything opens correctly
-
Buy CapCut Pro only after that
This gives you:
-
Full subscription control
-
Easy cancellation
-
Cloud access
-
Zero risk of being locked out
Summary of answers to your questions:
-
You cannot log into a local CapCut account elsewhere
-
You can cancel Pro via Apple/Microsoft, but it’s risky
-
Username + CapCut ID alone is not enough for account recovery
-
Best move: transfer project → real account → then buy Pro
